Jon stood proudly beside his father as the Tyrells came walking into the Throne Room. Rhaegar had taken to greeting his Great Lords on the same level, not from up in that monsterous throne that towered over them... So far it had kept everyone content, in fact it made a few rather surprised. Rhaegar had also included the Great Houses more in decisions, allowing them to have a say in things before he passed them, wanting to avoid them disagreeing like they so often did when Aerys before him had made some discission that cost them and their people. Rhaegar was teaching his son to rule the same way. The prince was therefore, now included in all important meetings, be it with the Great Lords or the Small Counsel.
So, he stood there beside his father now as the Lord of the Reach came. With Mace Tyrell were his two youngest children, Loras and Margery, both not far in age from the prince himself. Jon gave Margery a smile. She was closest of the Tyrell children in age to him. Rhaegar dipped his head to Mace and greeted him. "It is an honor to see you again, Lord Tyrell, to what do we owe the pleasure?" The king was always kind to his lords, perhaps due to not wanting to cause another rebellion, as the last one had cost so very much... Including Rhaegar's first wife and children, so he had certainly grown cautious, no more running off with a high born lady who is engaged to another for Rhaegar... and he was certainly teaching his son not to try the same.
Jon recalled how the Tyrells had been one of two houses that had not turned on the Crown during the failed Rebellion. They were alsothe only house to never show hostility after the rebellion, the Martells had made it clear soon after the death of Elia and her children as well as Lewin Martell of the King's Guard, that they were not pleased. Not that Doran and Oberyn could be blamed, after all, they did love their sister... Hence why Rhaegar had made it so they fostered his brother, Jon's uncle Viserys, to ensure that the Martells remained happy. So far it had certainly been working, keeping them calm...
