Hi I'm the anon when sent the "single is aphobic" thing and I heard it firsthand from a lecture I accidentally attended. He said it implied a natural progression of loniness > sexual interest > sexual desire > relationship > sexual gratification > marriage > eternal happiness and that with all the aspects of relationships that are sexually based it left out the experiences of ace/aro people and was a form of oppression to those individuals. I haven't been able to find it in an article or (1/

/2) anything but yeah I think about that a lot because...wow lol 

He also said that he's traveled to a lot of other college GSAs and that he's surprised there isn't more asexual presidents because, and I'm directly quoting this bc I wrote it tf down, "allosexuals create sexual tension bc of their attractions and their relationships in the organization, and when that happens the organization spins into chaos bc the president isn't focused on the organization anymore! Asexuals should be the presidents bc they don't worry abt frivolous sexual exploits" like what

I'm at a lgbt conference right now and I was initially excited because my university is actually paying me to come as a representative and it's a conference and all and there's a lecture about invlusitivity of the plus in lgbt+ and I was excited until I saw David Jay walk in the room and now I'm dreading this lecture

At one point of his speech he brought up ace oppression and he started by saying that the oppression is different and then he went back and said that straight privilege is ace oppression. And he actually said that the term single insinuated a flow of events that eventually end in sexual gratification and therefore 'single' is ace oppression. He actually said that. I was seething with rage the whole time honestly and the host said "I want to plan a whole conference around you" I wanted to puke

hey it may not be much but your response on the post about the politics of being nonbinary REALLY helped me understand some of my own feeling of my gender and realize some of the reasons I get weird about classifying myself in some political and lgbt spaces. I just wanted to say thank you for that

Thank you, but I really don’t feel like I offered any new ideas. I just broke down what @chinaglaze was saying and offered some of my own experiences to corroborate. I am, however, glad that me breaking it down helped some people understand it, and I hope you’re able to feel more comfortable with your nonbinary identity going forward. I know how tough it is. <3
