Thank you for being the voice of reason re: Seyka. It’s getting exhausting seeing both people being mad it happened (because they wanted Aloy with someone else) and people acting like they’re 100% confirmed endgame in H3. They literally end the DLC with things being up in the air between Aloy and Seyka, who even SAY they might never see each other again. Nothing is set in stone, it’s clear this was just a way for GG to introduce romance options and have canon queer Aloy.

Both sides are exhausting. Hence my intial post which THE POINT OF (to reiterate for the anon who didn't read) was to not harrass Guerilla over the results.

AND AGAIN - I loved Seyka. I thought the romance was cute and I was engaged. But it was an optional DLC. There ain't no way - sorry.

If we wanna get REAL nihilistic? It's profitable for companies to support the lgbtq community right now and one could say that Seyka and Aloy was a complete money grab.

Do i believe that? NO.

There was effort and passion and care for the fans put into it. But can it be argued a massive corporation had a bottom line to meet? Yeah, absolutely.

If it bothers anyone to see this take - do what I do and block often and liberally.

And don't take my objective criticism for shipping discourse. That's not on me.

I know Terry Moore’s “Runaways” isn’t fondly remembered, and truth be told I sold the entire set a few weeks ago, but for all intents and purposes it did give me vaRikk, one of the soldiers from Majesdane who wanted Karolina to be punished for what her parents did.

Ramos’s artwork made it seem like he was drawing a different guy every time he appeared, but the resemblance to Lightning Lad also made him one of my fave comic redheads.

The artist wishes to remain anonymous, but I couldn’t get the image of him as big with his little lizard companion deHalley resting on his boobs. They delivered perfectly.

oohh, something season themed, maybe. post season 1, tarim basin never happened, they move on to war college but things are tense. 

anacostia and petra are working on something in the dark; they don’t tell the unit anything and more often than not, when one of them asks, they’re told to mind their own business and keep their heads low. 

it’s not easy, knowing that the general committed a war crime and having to sit on their hands while the “grown ups” tend to it. 

but what the fuck else can they do? any other action would lead to punishments that would make progress even harder to attain.

so they sit, they listen, they wait.

abigail spends her time learning, comes back late and tired with more papercuts than a person should have. says she’s looking for a loophole, some sort of way out or a way to fix this. raelle’s pretty sure she’s got nothing to go off of, but won’t stop her if that’s what she needs to feel okay.

tally, surprisingly, has taken to spying on people-- a weird brand of distrust seeping into her person from getting scorned one too many times. it’s helpful, especially when it leads to the discovery that anacostia’s been slipping off base at weird times of day. 

raelle... just spends her days wandering the grounds. 

she’s restless, more often than not. spends all her free time tracing familiar old paths and seeing ghosts of memories out of the corners of her eyes.

tally’s once-burdenless smile, walking down the path to the gardens after beltane.

scylla’s hand in hers as they twirled their way through the woods.

it all feels like a lifetime ago; dreams left forgotten in some shoebox under the bed. 

but the wounds still feel fresh. the thought of scylla alone still leave a bitter taste on the back of her tongue.

she tries not to think about how scylla’s probably dead in some prison by now. 

summer fades and fall comes rolling through, turning all the trees on base into varying shades of orange and yellow and red. 

raelle spends more time sitting under the big oak tree, head tilted up, watching the light filter through and wash everything in warm tones.

tally disappears one afternoon and doesn’t pop up again ‘til midnight, when she slides into raelle’s room with a quiet whisper.

“i think anacostia’s meeting with the spree.”

things don’t get more chaotic after that. if anything, they get quieter. 

abigail insists that they stay low and calm and approach the situation as calmly as possible.

tally has another small breakdown-- if they can’t trust anacostia, then who the fuck? 

raelle’s the one who gets fed up with the tiptoeing and spying and laying low. she corners anacostia in her office one day, demands answers. 

part of her wonders how much of her desperation for answers revolves around scylla.

anacostia, to her surprise, doesn’t turn her away. she sits raelle down and very quietly asks her to be patient, to trust that she’s working on something. 

raelle’s not a fool. she doesn’t trust anyone other than her unit these days. she demands proof of concept, something to make her believe that anacostia isn’t up to something horrible.

she’s told to wait until sunday, to wait for a sign.

raelle barely sleeps all of saturday night, feels too fucking sick to her stomach, can’t stop itching at her palm even though there’s nothing there.

the restlessness doesn’t subside come morning and raelle forces herself to go for a walk so she doesn’t burn a hole through her floor with all her pacing.

all hallows’ eve is in a week and the entire campus has turned into one huge splatter of warmth despite the chill of fall settling in.

tally makes her take a scarf with her on her walk.

she walks her favorite path. the one that winds through the woods and circles through the gardens before leading to the big oak tree that she promised herself to scylla under. 

how can someone love and hate a memory so much all at once?

she’s stepping on the crunchiest leaves, letting the satisfying feeling override the stress in her bones when she hears the shuffling of another pair of feet.

when she looks up to find the source of the sound, her entire body freezes over like winter’s come early.

scylla ramshorn, or the ghost thereof, standing not twelve feet away under their tree, looking at her with eyes that seem that much more blue in the overwhelming hues of orange.

to that anon who was feeling insecure about posting the velcinta fic they've been working on: we've all been there. i've been writing fic for over 20 years and i still feel like this. it's terrifying. but i promise when someone sends a kudos or comment you'll realize it's all worth it.

sometimes i think about vel and cinta and i want to lie down and cry. actually, i usually do just that. i love them so much.

had to do that when i came home the other day, it really hit me how sad and unfair it all was. they deserved everything and got nothing. thankfully i will dedicate the rest of my life to giving them everything <3
