The Sorcerous Stabber Orphen reboot does not get the attention it deserves in the west.

Though I think a lot of that comes from people not knowing the original anime was an adaptation of a light novel series and changed all sorts of things.

Somehow this detail get left out of every anime review I have seen about the reboot and I don’t know why. It’s... kind of an important detail?

While I haven’t finished them, I do prefer the light novels to the original anime adaptation and highly recommend giving them a read! They do a much better job building the magic system and what not.

Sorcerous Stabber Orphen S2 Episode 2

There are a lot of things I like in this episode. It has a lot more action, there seems to be an improvement in the quality of animation, and more lore!

I think it's cute how Mädchen is all tough and strong but is afraid of heights. Poor Orphen has to piggyback her all the way down.

Majic casts a spell! Yeah, I know he's cast a few spells before in season 1 but still, it's great to see him doing something other than waiting for Orphen to do something.

Cleo appears out of nowhere, splits open a killing doll like a badass and saves Mädchen in the process.

I love this scene where Orphen has to fight off numerous flying dogs and killing dolls all while carrying an unconscious Majic in one arm. And he obliterates all of them. It just shows how powerful and capable he is as a sorcerer.

Orphen and Cleo bickering. I know they bicker in almost every episode but I just love their dynamics. Orphen can be pretty rough with her, though. He needs to chill a little.

I'm excited to see episode 3!
