XD If either of you want to stage a rescue of Samuel from the Jersey *coughs* you know where to find me XDDDD IDk. I figured that Ben saved John and so maybe John saves Samuel as a favor to Ben? I’m just rambling.
FMK: Major Pitcairn, Javert, Wilberforce
“Well, based on past experience I guess I’m marrying Wilber. Javert’s growing on me but I’m sure I’d kill him eventually anyway, so I’d be cheating on Wilber with Pitcairn.
... Sounds like a pretty awesome set-up, all things considered.”
[’Muse is dead ...’ meme. Here @majorjpitcairn have some angst.]
“You’re ...” She remembered the way her voice had scratched, how she’d had to stop and cough, try to force down a swallow against the sudden dry. “You’re sure - ?”
Running the shop on her own wasn’t exactly something Aiden ever thought would happen. But the sudden letter from their supplier wasn’t expected either. Without incoming books, Brennan was left with what he had in stock, and while there was enough for a few months, given their slowed traffic after the boycotts four years ago, by the end of the year they’d have nothing.
So the situation became unavoidable, her brother’d had to leave Boston, catch the first ship he could to England to try and find a new supplier.
That had been almost a month ago now, and while she was settling into it, the fact that she was having to split her time between the bookshop and her seamstress work was tiring. But with the taxes still high, she needed every coin she could get. No matter if the buyer was a colonist or otherwise. At that point, Aiden didn’t care. If they bought, then they were in her good books.
It was this thought that kept her smile in place when the officer walked in. He was on his own, a good sign that he was more likely there to buy something than ask about her taxes.
“Welcome, may I help you find something today, sir?”

[text] How sober are you dove? Given I won’t turn down the view of an attractive man in a kilt, but wtf are you on?
He stopped, a frown creasing his brows as he leaned over, peering around a few people to be certain it was her. He had truly though the would never see her again. Not with an ocean between them. Quickly the major made his way closer, his heart thumping painfully hard in his chest. "Rebecca?"
It was merely her mind playing tricks. It had to be. There was no way it was him, and her name was common enough, so it was easy to pass off. At least, not until she looked around to see the source of her name being spoken, her eyes widening in realization.
It can’t be, she thought to herself as her heart began to race in her chest. But those brilliant blue eyes were hard to forget, no matter how hard she had tried since they had last spoken.
The midwife breathed his name as he came closer, knowing there was no avoiding him, though she knew she would never dream of it. But as she began to study him, a small smile tugged at her lips. It was good to see that he was doing well for himself, especially once she had taken note of his higher rank, much higher if she remembered compared to what he was before.
“It is truly wonderful to see you again.”
