While we took a stroll across the Makartsteg bridge over the Salzach river, a flock of young couples were seen tying dramatic padlocks on the fence, 'love locks' as they called it. Amongst them was an old man, probably in his early 70's, making his way to the empty space across the railing. He took out this tattered red coloured lock from his bag and tied it to the fence. Curious enough someone asked him,"You are pretty old, you seem to be alone too..what is the lock about?".. With a croaky voice, the old man replied,"It was 35 years back when I first visited this place with the love of my life. Unlike the million other infatuated couples that are flaunting and proving their feelings here, we wanted to prove our not-so-infatuated fondness towards each other over the years..and so we decided to come back here again only when we succeed in our relationship. She passed away few days back. Unlike the other couples here who might not even recognise each other after going back home, I am proud to flaunt that I had a lady in my life for whom I have the same feelings today which I had when I had first met her. She loved me with all that she had, and we made it till the end.." With tears in his eyes, he said, "You are my sky, everything else is just the weather" & smiled gazing upwards, while the beautiful town of Mozart swung in some melodious tunes across the river!
