When was the last time you felt deeply connected to #nature.. Where you actually felt elevated few meters above the land.. and still felt only a few inches away from the sky.. where rain clouds accompanied you and you breathed the same cold air as they did.. where birds flew quite below than where you stood.. making you believe that earth is not just a planet where life exists.. but also is a sublime example of the miracles of the universe.. This place nestled near the border between the states of Pahang and Selangor in Malaysia was actually somewhat similar.. It made me feel more connected to the purpose of my life..from where I could still see human race far away, much inconsequential and minute, appearing and disappearing on the highway that passed through the gigantic vegetation cover!

A hill-station that has everything you need, from hotels to shopping malls to theme parks to casinos. Perched on the peak of Mount Ulu Kali some 1,800 meters high, it's a 60 min drive from KL city centre and this view that you see in the picture is the first stop (Chin Swee Temple) when you take the cable car from the cab drop-off point at the Genting Skyway. It has breathtaking views of the serene vegetation of Selangor and if lucky enough, you'll get totally mesmerized by the clouds passing through you, thereby turning the entire surroundings cold and whitewashed!

Engrossed in an intense discussion, uncertain about where to go, they drove down the national highway some 100 miles north and were kind of lost. Unaware about their exact location, they stopped by a far off McDonalds outlet near a petrol station. Google maps showed them two directions- one back home from where they had reached there and the other where they could relentlessly drive forward without a plan in their minds.. With an abstract sense of dependence on each other, they picked up a couple of burgers & water bottles, refuelled the car and simply took the other way around, willingly re-losing their way all the more, only to thankfully find each other again!

I was rushing to work that morning, making my way through the pavement of a crowded street in Mumbai, when I surprisingly bumped into an old friend. We shared an ideal bond and were instantly gratified with the sight of each other. A pleasant hug and a set of anecdotes from the past standing besides the pavement of the road cracked us up when a bunch of kids started playing around us. They belonged to the road-side slums and seemed totally famished. Looking at us, the kids demanded something to eat. My friend was fasting that day, and she was to work late in office for a deadline that she had, and so was carrying dinner with her which she could possibly have after sunset. Pitying the plight of the poor kids, we looked around to find a road-side snack outlet from where we could buy them a "wada pav" atleast, if nothing more. However, there was nothing of that sort around, and all that we could offer was a straight face to the apathy of the kids. My friend picked the tiffin box from her bag and gracefully handed it over to the kids. Astonished enough, the kids smiled, hurriedly nibbling off the freshly cooked masala rice. The sense of achievement that she felt that moment was exceptional and couldn't really be compared to any victory in our day to day personal life. The kids probably didn't even know how to thank her back and simply looked at her with gleefully loving eyes and I wondered what enormous potential little gestures like these carry!

“It was cold, cold enough for me to freeze down my roots. Maybe there was nobody breathing around me. The chilled numbness of the night portrayed a detrimental picture and my soul almost loomed into despair, when out of the blue someone moved towards me. It took a close look at me and smiled, as if I inspired him. "I am glad to capture your colors, you floral delight” he muttered making me realize that I have been blooming all along the night; the frozen darkness just felt extraneous!“

Take me away somewhere.. somewhere so far where my heart doesn’t sink down.. Where my mind possesses tranquil sanity.. And I float in the air across the mountains.. Peacefully!!

The stark contrast, the striking shade of variance & the fretting individualistic saturation levels only made their picture even more beautiful together!

It haunted me, deep down my nerves, night after night, insanely, erratically & indefinably. It was like the world use to come to a standstill, time use to stop on me, as if nothing moved for a while. It felt unending, the way it made me succumb to itself, helpless enough. I could see shadows in the dark, sometimes silhouettes too, making me wonder if I was crazy. The heavy eye lids and the thinnest note of the silent breath in the wee hours just craved for answers from the unseen images hovering across the dim roof.. And all I could do was lay down there, restlessly, with a hope to sometime soon strike a chord with the lost sense of sleep!

Not just the kids, this calls for a rejuvenated interest in the brand of the young working class who cherished the taste of the drink sometime in their childhood :)
