Happy early birthday to me.
Review time! I’m a make up geek. I love the stuff! I am going to start doing periodic reviews of products that I try. Today it’s going to be Bobbi Brown’s lip gloss in shade Nude. This product came from Sephora and retailed for $29. Lipgloss is one of my favorite things so I am always looking for a new favorite and sorry to say this one just isn’t it. My first thought after applying the product was “holy shit my lips are stuck together!” This has to be some of the thickest, stickiest, most gloppy piece of want to be maple syrup that I have ever tried! Sure, there is nothing wrong with a thicker lipgloss (there are a few thicker products that I enjoy). This, however, you could hang wallpaper with it! No bueno. Another compliant that I have is the packaging. For $29 I expected a bit more “wow factor” when it came to the packaging. Maybe Bobbi Brown was trying to be a minimalist with this product but it looks cheap. I have a $5 Hard Candy gloss that’s packaging looks very nice! Maybe I am being too harsh and expecting Bobbi Brown to put amazingly packed products together like Jeffrey Star (haha, that’s an unfair comparison. Jeffree has the best packaging) but I expected more. The tubing feels like if you squeeze it funny product is going to be squirting out like ketchup from a ketchup bottle! Now, after I have bashed the product like a piñata, I am going to give some good thoughts. After application the product looks very nice! There is a nice shine and it does appear to make my lips look more plump. The product also has a nice minty smell which varies from the typical vanilla scents of the lipgloss world. Another positive point is the product is long wear. It’s not one that you have to be touching up every half an hour or so. All in all, I give this product a 3 out of 5. It’s not the worst but certainly not the best. I’ll definitely keep it and continue to give it time to “grow on me.” If you are someone who can’t afford $29 for a lipgloss, NYX makes a wonderful product called “Butter Gloss” that is usually $4-$5 dollars. This is by far one of my favorite brands of lipgloss and comes in various shades. My favorite is Angel Food Cake. Compared to Bobbi Brown, it’s no where near as sticky (unless you just pile the shit on). Now you will have to touch up a little more frequently but that is okay.
Shop Bobbi Brown’s Lip Gloss at Sephora. A high-shine formula that gives lips a sultry sheen for a fuller look.
