My Visit to Ashmolean Museum Oxford

The pictures are from my surprise visit to Ashmolean Museum in Oxford where I had an opportunity to witness Mummies for the first time. It was both weird and interesting. Weird because they were dead people in the wraps and I wondered if they had a voice for themselves, would they still choose to opt for this? and Interesting because its a great gift from God to the Egyptians that they were blessed with a miraculous method to preserve a decomposing human body for hundreds and thousands of years. There were at least 6 mummies in the museum including artifacts, paintings, ancient collectibles and statues of Pharaohs. 

Djeddjehutyiufankh, the actual name of one of the Mummies was also known by the name Djed. When I initially read his name on the interactive screen, I wondered if it was a typo or it was missing a character spacing. There were a couple of mummies of women who had a painting of their faces over the mummies for us to know how they looked.

The beauty about Britain is that, the people here value old things from history. Ashmolean Museum has taken a lot of measures  in making sure these things are accessible for common people viewing. So if you are around Oxford, do not miss out this museum and let me know what is on second floor. Did not have enough time to cover all the ground.
