Quick question. Since this year my 'resolution' is to figure out makeup I was thinking about doing one of those makeup consultation things. Has anyone tried one before? Did they teach you a lot? And do you have suggestions on the best places to go? How much was it? Lots of questions I know.

So yes, are makeup consultations good for a girl who just barely knows which side of the tube lipstick comes out of?

How do the sephora consultations work? Do you make an appointment or just go in and say can you make me pretty?

You can go in and ask for one of the Mini Makeovers (smoky eye, everyday eye, etc.), but be prepared to learn. Sephora is big on educating clients. I would usually do one eye, one step at a time, and have the client do the other. Or you can make an appointment for one of the Certified Makeup Artists to do a full face on you, but you have to purchase a minimum of $50 in product.

Up to you which route you take, but don't go in and say "make me pretty" because I would honestly probably give you a look and tell you to leave. It's really exhausting working there, so a little respect and kindness goes a long way.
