doctor visits and makeup

So i was sitting here daydreaming and this memory popped into my head of my last bf and one of his moments....

So he’d always had really bad bags under his eyes, but not saggy, just dark. Really dark circles.

He’d asked the doctor for something and the doc had shrugged it off and gave him a prescription for this under eye roll.

He’d went home-used it-and was happily shocked. It had completely covered his dark circles. He showed his mum and sister and they both seemed happy with the result, saying how good it looked.

He showed his dad and got ‘why are you wearing makeup?!’

He was confused about it and said he wasn’t and ended up hurrying back to his room.

I turned up to his house later and we usually watch a movie or two on his pc and he shows me the item the doctor had prescribed him and retold me what had happened.

Now some of us may know, but garnier under eye roll on often has some concealer mixed in with the product, as well as one or two vitamins mentioned on the front of the packaging.

I said “Yeah it’s got ‘some’ concealer in it but it’s got all the other stuff you need for under-”

He cuts across me with-“ I didn’t want makeup!”

Me now getting annoyed “Well what did you ask for?”

Him “Something to get rid of my dark circles”

Me speaking slowly “And it did…what’s wrong with this, it works?”

Him “Its makeup”

Me “…and…”

Him “and my dad had a go at me for wearing it”

We all know that sometimes when you want the actually truth from a guy, you gotta keep asking until they give in and tell you. (Like drawing blood from a stone)

The problem wasn’t the roll on, it was his dad.

Me “your dad’s not the one wearing it, its just there to cover your circles. There isn’t anything wrong with that”.

Him “I know- and its fine for guys to wear it too but- I don’t wanna have to wear makeup”

Me “Welcome to my life”

Him “No- when you wear it you look nice. I just don’t suit makeup” (keep in mind he’s never seen me without some form of makeup on)

Me “its for anyone who wants it, but the problem isn’t the makeup its your dad?”

Him “well ye”

Me “What did your mum say” (aka the voice of reason)

Him “She said it looked nice”

Me “Ok that’s fine. So are you going to use the thing- you know- that you went to the doctor’s for?”

Him “No”

  This is what happens when you gender shit. if ever you were to ask what he’s self-conscious about- it would be that. But rather than use a quick fix but get moaned at by his dad, he’d rather feel like crap.

ALL MEN AROUND THE WORLD.

Believe me when I say this.

You are beautiful and handsome but using makeup does not make you less of a man. It can enhance your features and some of you kinda make my heart do a drum roll when you wear eye liner.

yesterday I didn't wear makeup and I felt great! today I wore makeup and felt great! It's taken a while to be comfortable enough to feel good either way, and I'm so glad I finally am because all girls deserve to be 😊😊😊
