10 Things You Need To Be Aware Of Working Fashion Shows
1. Be early
Give yourself an extra 30 mins before your call time incase of traffic & locating the exact backstage area.
2. Dress comfortably & Layer
Dress comfortably but presentably in all black, bring layers incase you have to go outside.
3. Eat & Stay Hydrated
Even if there is catering, eat and drink liquid before you show up on location because chances are you might not have a break once you start.
4. Do not set up till key artist set up
Even if you are early, don’t set up your stuff until you get directions from the key artist or their assistants. They alway should have the best light.
5. Take notes during makeup demo
Majority of the time. The key artist will demo the look for the show, pay attention, take notes on all the products that they use and all the tools that they chose.
6. Take a photo of the demo look
After the demo, ask the key if you may they a photo of their model as a reference.
7. Respect your neighbors
Most of the time, space are limited, make sure you work together and don’t take up all the space just because your set up is huge. Hair will need to be close to outlets and makeup artist will need to be closer to the windows.
8. Be nice to talents
Be nice to the models, and they will be nice to you in return. That means they will less likely to be on their phone, and if you ask them for anything, they will support you.
9. Do not disappear at anytime
If you need to step away, let your neighbor, the key or the assistants know before you go anywhere!
10. No posting of behind the scene content till after the event
We all get excited but save all the posting till after the events. Know that the audience are waiting in line outside to see the show, the look, the clothing. Don’t ruin it for the designer, the audience and your career.
