Runes- Type of divination. Similar to Tarot, Runes are used to give spiritual insight. “ Runes were originally used for writing among the ancient Northern Europeans. Even today their remnants can be seen as inscriptions on large stone markers throughout Sweden and other parts of Scandinavia.”
To use runes for divination purpose, cast the runes in the manner of dice, cast all of them at once. A rune is only relevant to a reading if it faces, face up. Ignore any faced down. The most important rune or the leading rune in a reading is the one furthest from you. If all the runes are faced down then you are not meant to know the question you are asking about. You should not try again for at least a week. It can make the reading inaccurate. Or lay them out like you would tarot cards.
Rune cast - Rune spreads will differ according to the occasion. Obviously, a specific question will be cast differently than the over all reading. Again, it will develop your own rune cast as your experience grows, but here are some good layouts. (Celtic cross, Asking the Norns, Casting a circle, free cast)
Runes can be quite costly. Average prices are anywhere between $3 - 40 that I’ve seen, plus if you get them online shipping is usually added.
I made my own set of runes, Freya rune stones. Freya is the principal Goddess in the pantheon of Norse Mythology.
For this set to make yourself.
You will need:
-25 rocks (24 will have the symbols + one blank rune) You can find your own or go to a craft store or Walmart and get a pack of rocks. (1.97) US$
- Matte acrylic paint (0.97) US$
-Paint brushes, fine pointed or angled brushes work best. (2.97) US$
- top coat nail polish (0.97) US$
It take took mine a few hours to dry so they weren’t tacky anymore.
(All I had was Gel polish, regular top coat will work just fine.)
