Hey! I know I’ve been scarce around these parts, but I’m getting ready to embark on a trip to Japan that will involve a truly ludicrous amount of wrestling shows, so I plan to post about all of that. Wish me luck!

Wrestlequest: Tokyo
Hey everyone! I’m back from Japan. What a trip! I will post a bunch of stuff about it in a bit (still unpacking, jet lagged, etc), but as a baseline, here are the shows I attended while I was there, courtesy of Cagematch. I thought 10 shows was a lot, but I met a bunch of fans from overseas who were going to 20+. If it wasn’t clear before, it should be now: I am a fake wrestling fan. I might as well wear be wearing a Dolph Ziggler t-shirt and have a Twitter screen name like “WokenCloset316.”
Anyway, here’s the list:

New Jersey Death (match) Trip
I’m sorry this is long. If you’re reading on a mobile device, I know Tumblr makes you scroll through the whole thing instead of respecting their own html cut.
Well, the plan this weekend is to attend Tournament of Survival, then do a bunch of weird stuff on Sunday (haunted bowling alley!). I’m a little apprehensive. I don’t know New Jersey at all and have never been to a death match tournament. Also, it galls me that I will have to get gas at one of New Jersey’s preposterous full-serve stations. This will either be a lot of fun, or it will be the kind of thing that makes me reconsider many of my life choices.
NOT THE PIG ROAST
For fuck’s sake
Less than two weeks before the show, and it’s moving to a new location that’s 20 miles away, indoors rather than outdoors, and will now start one hour later than previously announced.
I mean, I guess I shouldn’t have expected a death match promotion to be a well-oiled machine, but this is not exactly on the same level as “sorry we’re starting a little late.” I’m guessing the advertised BYOB and pig roast are out, now that the show is being held in a shitty rock club.
Indoor death match tournament: really not the same vibe.
My hotel reservation in Neptune now seems much less strategic. I could have stayed in New Brunswick for half the cost and been closer. THANKS FOR NOTHING ZANDIG OR WHOEVER IS ACTUALLY BEHIND THIS.
