for all intent and purposes, amadeo has disappeared from the pali house for almost a whole week. he’s been doing research on annabelle, specifically her demon goat form, but it’s also served as a way to not have to confront anything. 

mako is the first man to have ever fucked him, beauregard and him were complicated, but thankfully he hasn’t had any altercations with malachi. he either returns early in the morning or late at night, but this time he finally bumps into the son of poseidon outside. amadeo has bags under his eyes, various papers stuffed into his pocket, and ink all over his finger. still, he puts on a smile and walks up to him. 

“ have you guys missed me over there? “ he joins the man by the lake, taking in the calm scenery. “ i know i’ve been a bit MIA lately, it wasn’t my intention. “

There was one thing that had become very clear to him in the past couple of days. He couldn’t rely on his own team members to do the right thing. And if he wanted to correct their wrongs, well, he needed to fucking learn how to swim, for starters. Which is how he ended up at the lake, waiting for fish-boy to show up and jump in before ruining his day with his own damn cursed presence. “Hi!” Hudson stands at the end of the pier, offering the younger man a tight smile and an awkward little wave. “I’m Hudson, uh, heard you’re really good at swimming and all that.” Heard? Hudson cringes. He clearly had eyes and could see him swim. “Is it true? You can talk to fish and breath under water?”

“I still can’t believe you haven’t seen Moana,” Asher hooked his arm around Mako’s as they made their way through the bustling New York City streets. While Bubbles and Nova were grazing as carriage horses in Central park, Asher was ready to remind Mako how magical the real world could be, even without gods and witches manipulating everything. When he’d heard that Mako had been so unfamiliar with the modern world, he’d made it his mission to re-introduce the charming on of Poseidon to the year 2021. First stop, a movie from 2016. “Have you ever seen a movie in 3D before?”

After the first few days of exploring camp essentially on his own, the arrival of the rest of the demigods was both exciting and nerve wracking. While part of him wanted to run up and introduce himself to every single one, there was another part that needed some space, some time to ease into it. Apparently the trial had been a literal nightmare, so chances were they all needed their space too.

It was the groups first day back, and while they all settle in again, Dean found himself almost ten meters high, perched on a tree with a lyre in his hand. He idly began to play the instrument, strumming out a song he’d heard in his ambrosian trance. Even when he heard the rustling from down below, he didn’t stop, though he did let his gaze linger on the man as he walked past, wondering if he even knew where the music was coming from.

It was no surprise that after the shit-show in Yosemite, Jordan sought out Mako to confront him about what had happened. Maybe the Big Three were destined to butt heads sooner or later, but never had he thought it would be under these circumstances. “Look, if you want to lead next time, do it,” he started off, having prefaced this confrontation with the classic “we need to talk” before diving right into it. “But when the group agrees to a plan, you don’t decide to endanger everyone else by acting completely out of line.” Jordan hadn’t been this riled up in quite a while, and he hated to think how much worse his temper would have been had they actually lost a teammate due to Mako’s recklessness. “You don’t gamble with people’s lives.”

Without a true idea for what he could do with the camp’s cookware, he had to seek the banquet hall for his meals. Viorel made sure to watch the feline cook that morning, even if his silent presence might have warranted more unease than not. He took his tray of food and walked to one of the outdoor tables. Chatter and silverware noises occupied the warm, homey hall itself, whereas whispering winds and nature around him.

The trees were much better company, anyway. 

He was about to cut up his eggs and give Sorin a bite when he noticed someone standing there. Close. A little too close for his preferences. Vio squinted and looked to Mako. What was he, daydreaming? It wasn’t like he anticipated anyone to be around here, not when the hall was far more inviting and warm. “Are you lost?” God, he hoped he was.

As the sun began to set on yet another hectic day at camp, Asher found himself eager to unwind. After the last quest he’d returned home from, a lot of things had been on his mind. The fact that one of his father’s muses was out there somewhere, under the sea most likely, the fact that he’d met her daughter, the mess that had ensued with the water creatures was almost too overwhelming. It had been one of the more insane quests he’d been on, and that was saying something. 

So as the day finally began to wind down, he sank gingerly into the hot spring that he’d found just outside of camp a few weeks ago. While it was probably a well known spot for the locals, he had been rather proud of himself for finding it all on his own. Eyes melted shut as his muscles relaxed under the warm water. It was only the rustle in the trees behind him that snapped him back to reality. “Mako?” he called out once he’d recognized the man’s features strolling toward him. “Two great minds, huh?” he mused, shifting a bit to make room for the son of Poseidon if he so chose to join him. There was more than enough space.

“You look like you’ve seen better days...” he whispered into the ear of the large male hunched over the table at the banquet hall. Asher would have recognized that look anywhere, considering he lived it like a day before. Deciding to claim the spot beside his new comrade, he rubbed at his back, an impulsive attempt to ease whatever pain the guy was clearly recovering from. “Let me guess, took a shot or two of the ambrosia last night?” He’s been there, done that, and prayed he would never have to again.
