Links To Sewing Tutorials For Mother's Day Gifts
Mother's Day is fast approaching! It is on Sunday 15th March - so you only have a couple of weeks left to order your sewing themed gifts for mum or to handcraft a special present for her.
In today's blog post I am going to give you lots of links to sewing tutorials that you could follow to make her a unique gift for the occasion. First of all I'm going to tell you about what I am making my Mum and suggest a few sewing themed gift ideas from our website....
I am currently in the middle of making a cushion for my mum as a Mother's Day gift. Sewing-Online HQ sent me 3 different half metre lengths of the new Makower UK Oriental Collection of fabrics to use for my project. I chose to be sent the Blue Packed Flowers , Blue Leaf Motif On Light Blue and Blue Leaf Motif On Dark Blue to use for my cushion.
I knew my Mum would love the fabrics and I decided to make her a cushion because I thought she could have it on the chair in the blue themed spare bedroom. I absolutely adore the fabrics! They are superb quality and the Packed Flowers design has such a vintage style to it. I actually think I have a bit of real vintage fabric in my stash that is similar to this....it would take me until next Mother's Day to hunt it down in my stash though!! I have so much fabric stored away for a rainy day. Bet you are all the same! :-)
I am opting to make a basic cushion for my mum but with English paper pieced embellishment. It would be lovely to make the whole cushion from just hexagons but if I'm honest I don't think I'll have time between now and the 15th. I suppose you never know though...so watch this space!

We have started selling these handy little sewing kit purses and they are only £6.99. There are 3 designs to choose from and each kit contains a basic sewing kit. These are really handy to take out and about in your handbag or on holiday with you. You never know when you might need a safety pin or a needle and thread.
Have you seen that your Mum has lots of spools of cotton but they are not at all organised? Maybe she needs a spool thread rack! :-) This rack can hold up to 60 spools of thread and it costs £19.99. It doesn't come with any threads but if you think your Mum will need any then we sell a bag of 30 assorted threads for £30.60.
Last but not least , we have just listed these new brightly coloured wheeled sewing machine bags to the site.
