“I will be here until they leave.” Seventy-year-old Father Michael Bossano’s solemn declaration sounds resolute. His streaks of white hair tell tales of many years spent travelling the world. For now, however, the soft-spoken Catholic priest has found his place in Malakal, a long way from the comforts of the city he used to call home, New York.
Members of the Malakal PoC community watch group completed an intensive training course on issues such as child protection, human rights, community policing provided by multiple substantive facets of the UN mission.
The intention of the intense educational foray was focused on the premise that it will provide a renewed impetus for the watch group members to enforce the provision of these vital services to the over 25,000 residents in the site.
