Resurgery of Malaligned Jaw Fracture This unfortunate lady had been involved in a serious road traffic accident with resultant upper and lower jaw fractures. She had been operated in her hometown, but had been left with an open bite and multiple infected plates. Her mandible had been fixed in a narrowed position, resulting in total derangement of her occlusion. She was referred to our hospital for treatment. The multiple infected plates were removed. A L-shaped osteotomy was then performed in her mandible and bone grafts harvested from the patient were used to widen the mandible to its original dimension. This resulted in stabilization of her occlusion. It was explained to her that the teeth lost at the time of the accident could be rehabilitated with dental implants at a later date.
