talk andraste=mythal//shartan=fen'harel to me *toots horn*
Oh gosh, where to even start.
Andraste and Mythal were both betrayed and killed by someone they trusted. Someone not Shartan and not Fen'Harel. This is confirmed by lore. The Chantry says Maferath betrayed Andraste and the death blow came from Hessarian. We also find out in the Temple of Sacred Ashes in Origins that it was Hessarian's wife who wanted Andraste publicly executed. Abelas, who is essentially a neutral party, says outright that Fen'Harel did not murder Mythal.
Flemeth's armor is echoed in both Andraste's crown and the statues in the Temple of Mythal. Plus Flemeth says outright that she is Mythal, which draws those links together.
As I noted on that other post, Mythal's visage appears in the Temple of Sacred Ashes, which was built to house Andraste's ashes. Perhaps at the time, her true identity was known and this was knowledge either covered up by the Chantry/her killer(s) or simply lost to history.
Shartan and Solas are dead ringers for each other, as seen in the Temple of Sacred Ashes (Origins) and the stained glass windows in the Chantry/other locations (Inquisition).
According to the leaked dev notes that I did end up accidentally reading bits of (sigh), the timeline of Solas being in uthenera lines up directly with Andraste's death. (It's been a thousand years, for those who haven't seen.) I'm reluctant to include info we don't technically have yet here, but this information merely attaches a solid number to facts we do already know are true.
On the more speculative side, Shartan is pictured holding a key in the DA:I stained glass windows. This could very well be connected to Fen'Harel's orb.
All right, now some personal speculation...
It seems as though Andraste was human by all accounts, which means Mythal was betrayed and murdered before that. Yes, I know, that undermines the first parallel a bit. That's why I figure Andraste's betrayal is directly connected to Mythal's, hence their backstories being similar.
Unfortunately, that's all I've got. We don't have nearly enough perspective on what actually happened historically to even guess what really happened. My biggest question at the moment is Do Fen'Harel and Mythal know who killed her before? Then of course there's the followup question of If so, who and where are they now? because the way Mythal was talking, she still has someone to take vengeance on. (Using present tense because I'm not touching the ending with a 100 foot pole. I have zero doubt that we're meant to be misled by it and have thought so since the first time I saw it.)
I READ THAT ANON THIGN AND HOLY SHIT GIVE ME DOM!ALISTAIR OR GIVE ME DEATH I DON'T EVEN KNOW IF IT WAS MEANT TO BE ALISTAIR BUT I AM BEYOND THINKING I HAVE REACHED A HIGHER PLANE OF AROUSAL GOODBYE FRIEND
