She is the Mistress of Evil indeed! I am SOOOOO hyped for this Maleficent sequel - The cast looks stunning, and the story, most importantly, is taking a very interesting turn and delving deeper into the origins of Maleficent herself! I CANNOT SERIOUSLY WAIT!

Maleficent: The  Mistress of All Evil Trailer Thoughts

-I think Maleficent is being brainwashed. 

Yeah, I know, it’s an EXTREME theory, but follow me on this. Let me elaborate by telling you what I predict the sequence of events will be:

EDIT: Turns out the mother in the trailer was Phillip’s mom, not Aurora’s! Whoops! This actually ended up changing quite a bit of my plot summary.

1. We see at the beginning of the film that Mal is not evil, she’s living happily with Aurora, Diaval, and her kingdom

2. Aurora gets proposed to by Phillip

3. Mal in her non-brainwashed form is unhappy about this

4. Diaval talks to her, helps her calm down a bit

5. Maleficent tries to be more accepting, but is having trouble after what happened to her

6. Mal’s own kind finds her

7. They ask her to help them in a way that would harm Aurora/Aurora’s kingdom/Her kingdom and Mal refuses

8. Mal goes to dinner with Aurora in her kingdom alongside Diaval and Phillip

9. Phillip’s mother gives the whole ‘A proper mother speech.’ Mal’s pissed, and walks off. Diaval tries to help her, but she turns him back into a raven and puts him in a cage or something.

10. Mal’s own kind approach her again, calm her, and get her to agree to help them in “one little way” or to just follow them. She does and they fly off. Moments after they disappear, Aurora shows up. Aurora frees Diaval

11. We see Aurora apologize to Phillip’s mother for Mal’s tantrum, but she’s not forgiving. She’s actually very worried about Mal, her powers, and her presence in Aurora’s life.

12. Mal spends more time with her own kind. She does the one thing to help them, but suddenly, she’s convulsing. Something INCREDIBLY wrong is going on here. 

13. Mal becomes “evil” again

14. Diaval, Phillip, and Aurora are trying to figure out what’s going on, but aren’t getting through to each other. Phillip’s mom is planning to fight her despite their protests. 

15. Diaval, Aurora, and Phillip figure out what’s going on and go off to try to get through to Mal once more.

16. It seems like they won’t, but then Aurora is put in harms way and Mal snaps out of it. Maybe Phillip puts himself in harms way to somehow protect Aurora during this point or at least tries to

17. Redemptive stuff, final battle, Mal and her team win

18. Mal talks with Phillip’s mother with Phillip’s help. They agree that they’re both Aurora’s mothers. 

19. Mal thanks Phillip and gives his and Aurora’s marriage her blessing.

20. Wedding with a final speech.

21. The end
