- enough is enough. call me dramatic I don't careeughhh
When I see a girl with a fresh blepharoplasty, still bleeding at the seams… I freeze. With a heavy heart, I raise two fingers and trace a slow, solemn cross—forehead to chest, shoulder to shoulder. I kiss my fingertips and point them to the heavens. An angel has lost its wings.
DIVA DOWN. I REPEAT—DIVA DOWN. 🗣️😞
I’m just beginning my journey into the art of makeup. Watching tutorials, I couldn’t help but notice how scarce they are for hooded eyes. And the few that do exist? They’re often done by people who barely have any hood at all.
I also noticed how hooded-eyed girls have little to no representation. Searching for figures with hooded eyes, I found plenty, except quite a handful only used to have them. They got blephs. Zendaya and Adriana Lima are 2 of the few people I appreciate for keeping their hoods in these hard times. A true soldier, both of them.
Now you must understand: I cannot see my lash line when my eyes are open. My brows sit fairly low too. Usually the advice we get is to “Just do a smoky eye!”
I’m afraid to tell you—nobody wants to sport a smoky eye every single day. It’s bored, it’s old, it’s a senior citizen🥱. We need moreee >0<!
Yes, hooded eyes can be a nightmare when it comes to eyeliner, strip lashes, eyeshadow, mascara, the rbf...but dammit, none of that is an excuse to tummy tuck your eyelids!
If everyone keeps getting blephs or relying on eyelid tape, how will makeup techniques for hooded eyes ever evolve? Who will be left to test them on?
(Unless you have ptosis, suffer constant discomfort, or can't see due to sever drooping, go ahead queen. I'm wishing you a speedy recovery 😽🩷.)
And to be so real? Eyeshadow in general is SO boring nowadays. The clean girl aesthetic has stripped eye makeup down to almost nothing. I’ll admit—it does help balance out the blush obsession we’re all in right now. One day, we’ll look back at this era and say it gave rosacea, but we had fun. I think it’s cute, idc. If you get it, you get it.
Regardless, eyeshadow has gone mute. And in this silence, I want to be a cricket —krrrkrrr!—waking you all with the loudest colors across my eyelids. Because if it stays quiet for too long, eyeshadow will just become girl we used to know.
I refuse to give in this easily. If I have to be the last man standing, so be it. In pursuit of my many interests, I will master ts and perfect it. I will gag the world with the looks I serve. Hooded eyes are so pretty, sexy, and catty.
If you have them too, DON'T TOUCH THEM.
I know, I know— "people do what makes them happy."
But at what cost, doll?
At what cost?😭
