This is the pre-contract get together between Connectors Malmö, MKB (housing agency) and Malmö Stad (local government). We drafted the contract and everybody liked it. This whole partnership thing means a lot for Connectors. After 2 years of running 100% independent we went from having meetings in the living room and barbecues in the balcony from getting our own space, apartments to make the residency happen and even some money that will help us with rent and food while we work 150% in this project. We finally can quit our side jobs and focus on Connectors, it's like a dream. It's nice when someone else trusts you and believe in your idea. Whatever you wanna call it, for me social innovation is a tool, it's institutionalized activism, is access to resources that as a regular activist you don't get to have, it is having a voice in spaces where they normally don't listen to you, it's using the system to make the change you want to see. And yes, there's lots of resources going to waste in the name of social innovation, there's a whole post-colonialist approach, it can be like a fresh branding for the traditional CSR and there are a lot of people, institutions, states and even regions trying to make social innovation about money. At Connectors we still argue if we want to use the name social innovation at all, and I personally think a lot about words, specially concepts like this. But I always end up thinking, who really cares? If you want to change the world, you don't take a 200 thousand dollars MBA in social entrepreneurship, Words are important, specially when they are coming from institutions like universities but that's a different battle. It's about making things and concepts will make their process. I believe in what we do, I believe in the people that are behind Connectors and I know what they mean when they talk about innovation, we mean change. Let's turn the field of social innovation about people.
