GOOD NEWS ALERT!!!
I am so excited to tell you all that the Fashion Act has been introduced in California! This is a very big deal because CA is the world’s 5th largest economy. New York is the 10th largest. So if these two states pass the Fashion Act this year—and I feel extremely optimistic that they will—then we will see some major global change forced on the fashion industry. This is MAJOR news in a time when the Trump administration is pushing us backwards in terms of climate progress. And I suspect that we will see no significant progress in climate legislation on the federal level over the next four years.
We have been working in NY for more than a year to make this happen. Adding CA to the list is a big win.
The expansion of the Fashion Act—and the fact that even exists in the first place—is an incredible example of how people just like us can get out there and make change happen when they work together. I am part of the coalition of fashion professionals, brands, climate activists, and legislative experts that have been pushing so hard to make this happen. We are doing this unpaid but important work because we believe so much in it. And I want you to be involved, too!
