The black magic of magnet BWAHAAHAHAAA.. and maybe some accidental blood magic. I did slice myself with the exacto, stab myself with pins, and burn myself with the hot glue during this u_u

I searched for making a gashapon or such on youtube and the basic mechanism isn’t hard at all. It’s basically two flaps that catch the rotating circle unless the coin is in to push it out of the way. Getting it to work reliably and well took a good number of additions and getting it to be collapsible into the smallest profile possible was a whole ‘nother level. Pwaaah!

Is that rubbery stuff? I can even send you my scraps! I teach my 5th graders w the link cutter and am constantly slicing myself because I'm careless. I can only imagine how safe you'd be with a proper cUtter!

I have a lino cutter! I just hate it! It’s really hard on my hand, esp with the material that’s common here in the US- the hard rubber stuff. I agree it’s needed with that material though! This stuff is akin to a fine art eraser- in fact it’s called eraser stamps or eraser carving in Japan! It cuts like butter with the exacto. 

I know linos are supposed to be safer, but with how they catch and jerk I’ve wounded myself far worse with a lino cutter the last time I carved than I ever have using an exacto for anything. This was a nice, clean, thin slice not a gouge like the lino cutter leaves and will heal cleanly. It wouldn’t of happened at all but I got rushed and unsafe when I was making one last clean up cut and I should of been patient and help the material properly. 100% my own fault for wanting to get it done and using sharp pointy tools when I was feeling unwell.
