Case study: Exercise
I guess I am the queen of procrastinating, when it comes to holding on to resolutions or even daily tasks in life. I need to get my act together, one way or another I need it.
If I succeed this, then I believe that I can do anything that I put my mind into it. So, I've been thinking of using the handbook "How to stick to your New Year's Resolutions OR I'll Stop procrastinating" by Richard W. Malott as a work through to get on planning the goals.
If you know what my major is, you would be falling off your seat and wonder what the heck I am doing? because if I cannot do it, why or how am I going to convince my clients on that it works or anyone at all. If I have not experienced on it before I can say "hey, you gotta try this. It works, and it's phenomenal."
There are many work out options that I can choose from, but luckily I have EA Active 2.0 on Wii consol to help me out with that. Although it has done that part of the day, I still have other things to stick to.
so let's start with...
General Rules
Get an Exercise Buddy - Having an exercise buddy makes the exercise more fun.
Sometimes I have a friend who takes her daily walks and I would join her in. We have a lot to chat about and it's good. At least I don't lose my motivation during the work out. The duration of the walks would take from 1 to 2 hours, and it's tiring and good work out afterwards.
I wouldn't choose my sister, because every time we work out together. I've always have to bribe her and she sees it as a reward every time which is a really bad way to teach a sibling that you'll get your rewards through bribing.
Double Your Pleasure - Make your exercises more enjoyable by combining it with other activities that you like to do.
I enjoy listening to music and reading books while I'm on the exercise bike. But since I have the Wii consol at home, I put on the latest episode of a show, drama or even a movie on my computer. I listen to it while I work out.
Goals
A less inappropriately large appetite
Better weight control
Better health in old age
More strength, endurance and coordination
Less chances for diseases.
My dad has diabetes, and he doesn't exercise much. I understand that exercises causes the diabetic to burn up blood fat for the needed energy. But walking around in your house is not exercise, we live in apartment but still, it's not. If it was, I wouldn't be in so much problems right now.
I've been at the doctors, and they kept telling me to take my medicine and work out. Because Asthma is not going to heal by itself, it's not going to heal otherwise right? So the only way to do is, that I need to work out. Improve my health, instead of worsen it.
Analysis
Beside procrastinating, I have poor control of the outcome because the goal is too small.

Before: I have a given level of health
Behavior: I exercise for 15 minutes
After: I have a infinitesimally better health
Performance Objectives
A beginner should not jog too fast, or go for high limits before they can handle it. I'll try to work out at medium level for minimum 15 minutes a day. It takes a lot to continue at first, and it will increase in the future.
I will set my initial goal at 1 hour of exercise per week, and I will accomplish my 1-hour goal by exercising four 15-minutes session per week.
Design
I enjoy resting more than work out, and working out is not my favorite physical activity and I would not want to do more than I need, so I'm going to avoid it.
Performance-management Contingency
SD (Deadline): Before My exercise deadline
Before - I will have to hold a squat for one minute
Behavior - I exercise for 15 minutes +
After - I will not have to hold a squat for one minute.
