This was a mix of Fiiero being a bad influence in tomodachi as somehow Miiteo decided to be mean. As well as conversations with @/poramoravalor about Fiero and well joking about Fiiero influencing Miiteo. It was also inspired by an idea similar to the Malvago Mateo concept another incredible creator @/ograndebatata has (so huge credits to him as well)
So the idea is just what if Carla and Mateo switched places. So Carla would be the royal wizard and Mateo the villain to be reedemed. Victor got exiled for conspiracy against Shuriki so but Nonetheless he gained forces and learned magic, so Carla was the one to free Elena and her family. She became royal wizard but Gabe is suspicious of her and she has to prove herself
For Mateo, its simple and sad. Rafa had birth complications and didn't have much longer, so Alacazar senses something and sends a message to Fiero to help his daughter. Fiero of course helps her out of decency ans Because he has a soft spot for his somewhat niece (Not a ship) Alacazar begs Fiero to take Mateo somewhere safe but Fiero refuses to keep him...but he eventually warms to Mateo and raises him as his Tio. So Mateo is raised as a Malvago. Here's more or less my idea of how he would look like (which is taking inspo from Fiero's outfit and changing to Cobras)
(also if You're wondering what are the wrist bands? It's just my headcannon that wizards and Malvagos from Avalor alongside other kingdoms of the region use.)
I went with a cobra to have his snakes differenciate from Fiero's but also have them match. I do think this Mateo would be absolutely sassy and petty like his Tio and a bit more serious but still holding that nerdy aspect. I absolutely love the idea that he and Shuriki absolutely beef nonestop and constantly fight and hex the other (Because i'm letting her keep her new wand for a bit long) he obviously hates her for exiling his uncle and making their lives miserable, and she hates him for being a petty mouthful insolent child. Fiero absolutely is done with this.

As a big of a thank you for your love and interest about my au, I decided to sketch a rough concept of Malvago Mateo for all + a lil bonus of an idea that wouldn't leave my head.
Also a kind reminder that this au is just a funside thing :3
This is not fully a concrete design, as I'll probably darken the reds a bit
For his design, I kinda wanted to play the opposite of Fiero's neatly look and make Mateo kinda look messy. The ripped cloak may not be a thing on one of the last outfits as I am kinda debating to keep it neatly.
Like RRV! Fiero, I based his outfit from Mateo's canon looks and canon Fiero's outfit, but flippped into basing it more on the malvago's outfit as for his design overall. I decided to give him more of an open cloak as one of his looks, I haven't figured the robe outfit yet, so I decided to go with my second idea (And yes, i am giving the villains more than 1 look. I just really enjoy drawing clothes)
I also gave him cheekbones like Fiero had for an older look, also adding eyebags as he spent his time studying dark magic and fatefully serving Queen Elena. Regarding colors, I didn't want to change his main colors, so i tried to play a bit with the red and darking it up. Underneath, I do love Fiero's underneath of black and purple under his robe, so I played a bit with Mateo's using some colors of his early seasons robes. He wears a high collar jacket/vest underneath (haven't decided) Although I'll def alter his outfit in the future (Also tamboritas will be altered a bit. One day I'll make a sketch base so I can work on the designs in a future)
As a villain, I do love the idea that Malvago Mateo would act like someone the heroes would underestimated (maybe not fully Fiero) and he carries himself with such a calm and kinda jokey demeanor, but he is a very skilled fighter and can easily over power his enemies.
I do love the idea that he can go from lighthearted taunting to a serious threat. Also, he will remain family of Alcazar, I haven't figured how I wanted to do the timeline, so if you have suggestions it would be very appriciated :3
bonus is underneath before the equivalent of "Spellbound" with Royal Wizard Fiero and Malvago Mateo ft the hero version of two villlains
M. Mateo: Now, now, niños. Let's all not get hasty. There's no need to fight. I'll just ask ONE thing
(The trio stare holding their magic weapons ready to fight)
M. Mateo: Give me the Codex Maru ansd I'll let you live
Since Royal Wizard Fiero has the codex Maru that his best friend (and brother) left him, I think it would be fitting that Mateo would be the one after it....but with a different motivation. Since Fiero is not Avalorian's royal wizard (Mateo is the royal malvago) I do think Queen Elena would want the book back as its from Avalor.
Of course Fiero won't give up easily because he promised Alcazar to take care of it. Yet...he wasn't expecting the Malvago to want the book back because of Alcazar.
I do want the spellbound episode to be more of a refence to those old horror thrillers where slowly the protagonist are seeing each guest turned into stone, before they encounter Mateo who gets them on their low guards pretending not to be a serious threat. And the other conflict being more related to how the growing team is dysfunctional as ever and won't communicate well
However, Fiero now has a strong conflict because Malvago Mateo wants to take back a codex book that belong to Alcazar (someone who was also close to him) because it is what is left of him...and Fiero is slightly conflicted about hurting someone who is a descendant of his late best friend and brother....and the fact he would have to use dark magic to fight back.
Not to mention two of his best friends' lives are in danger...
And well of course there is his two friends who don't fully understand why the book means a lot to him, but comming to a huge emotional moment after Malvago Mateo is defeated (opening pandora's box through unleashing Queen Elena's wrath as she won't take it lightly that someone hurt her Royal Malvago and closest friend)
and the first time they'll ever hug, the first time a verbal sorry was said, and the first time of "You're...you're my closest ally...and my best friend" (which is technically a huge step into two of the character's relationship, while the other one is just shocked as its the first time one appologizes and both admit being afraid)
but that might be another stuff for another day hopefully hahaha
but i do appriciate and thank you all for how much love you send to my au. Literally, yesterday I was very down, and your sweet words and excitement lifted my spirits.
