The Story of my Easel Every day after infant school and primary school I used to pop into the Cowleigh gallery on Cowleigh Road to view paintings and chat to the late Bill Nicholls. During these early years he had set up the gallery and wanted to paint within the gallery on Cowleigh road. I recall him painting very impressionist style pieces with great colour. I could see him from the school windows painting across the playground and always thought I wanted to paint. As the years went on I used to pop in now and again and catch up. Then when I was 18 I went to Bill to take me on, he said no and that I was not ready which wasn’t want I wanted to hear so I left in rage and worked harder. Around a year later I went back with loads of new work whilst at Uni. He said I was ready after struck with what I had produced. He started showing my work in one of his front windows and prime spots at the Malvern theatres. This carried on for many years with great success until he passed away in 2008. It was an honour to have been mentioned so highly at his funeral and Bills wife kindly gave me the easel that I used to see when I went into the gallery. That easel is now still being used some 36years later and is still perfect. Time is flying but some things remain constant. #cowleighgallery #malverntheatresart #metaleasel #malverngallery #malvern art #artistseasel #arteasel #studioeasel #antonybridge #Malvern #Malvernhills (at Malvern Hills) https://www.instagram.com/p/CA15s8WpwFR/?igshid=178n9h6prilu1
