Even though he expected a completely different answer, he chuckled and he placed his hands on Elliot’s shoulders. It was a joke, he knew, it had to be. He remembered that night, how Elliot had been, how important to him it was too. 

❝Which possibility scared you the most?❞ he smiled amusingly. Looking back, he could see why Elliot could have been scared, that was his intention after all, even though he never planned to kill him. But later...well, right after he took him to the arcade and it wasn’t out of fear. And then it had been Elliot who had tried to kill him. But none of it mattered now.  ❝Everything changed that night.❞ he continued  ❝You know that. But it’s not over yet.❞

Given Elliot’s attitude so far, his sudden shift in expression confused him even before he spoke. Him? He mouthed a ‘what’, frowning. Was him the other Elliot? Whatever that meant. Sighing heavily, he moved away from him, his hands on his waist. He didn’t have the time or the energy for this. He should either hit him again, get his frustration out on him or just send him the fuck away. But he found himself doing either of those things, a part of him still wanting to understand this, still wanting Elliot in his life.   ❝What’s the fucking difference?❞

Even though he was half-used to Elliot speaking to him like that, sometimes he was both hurt and taken aback from it. But he wouldn’t let him know, even though his expression often betrayed his feelings. No, it always did, especially with Elliot.  ❝I am fully committed to this, Elliot, you know that.❞ he frowned and walked to him, something in him didn’t want to let this go this time. ❝This is our destiny. You might be quick to dismiss it, but I know you believe in this too.❞

Frank halfheartedly nodded his way through the unexpected thank-you-for-your-service spiel; vaguely wondering what the hell he was wearing that prompted it---- never once considering that it was his recently touched up fade that did the trick, not enough coffee in him yet for that much brainpower. He’s still puzzling over it when he feels it-- one of those well meaning pats clapping him just a tad too hard, almost the perfect necessary distraction from the man’s other hand dipping into his side-pocket to lift his wallet. That’s when his brows furrow and his pleasant expression melts away, revealing sharp edged annoyance.

“Yeah, alright buddy. Just gimme that back and we can call it even for all my service and heroics, yeah?”
