MCFK JAMBOREE #6 SEMI-ACOUSTIC STYLE
Photos hopefully forthcoming.
Four highlights from the night:
-Goodman's baffling, impromptu rendition of "Amazing Grace," which got all the old Irish eyes in the house smilin'
-Oh! My Blackbird transfixed the many when Nick suddenly ripped out a cello solo through copious distortion and delay that could only be described as noise punk
-Dr. Skinnybones suffered a brief technical malfunction that wiped out both guitars, so the crowd invaded the stage and gave them the full welcome to MCFK with a mass singalong on "Bad Education"
-the Great American Novel got a return in full, when the pickup line-up was fully dwarfed by a full-scale invasion on "American Weekend." I saw Jake and Layne almost kiss!!
Oh yeah, and Layne let me, Oliver, sing a nasty rendition of "Slippin' and Slidin'" by the real king of rock and roll, Little Richard. Good times.
