My partner and I have been dating since freshman year of high school and we decided to try to stay together when we came to college. Now that we are going to two completely different schools, it’s hard to find a schedule that works for both of us to talk, video chat, whatever. It’s been really difficult for me but I feel like my partner is doing so many new things and experiencing the “college life” while I’m here wishing we were back in high school together. What do I do?“
Sweetie Pie,
Long distant relationships are tough, but sometimes they can work out if there is effort on both ends to maintain and grow the relationship. You may want to think about whether your partner is putting as much effort as you are, and if not, Mama Luv would suggest having a discussion with your partner about how s/he feels about the relationship. Baby, please avoid thinking about the times with your partner in high school. It is unfortunate, but from Mama Luv’s experience, even in the closest relationships and friendships, our short-term and long-term goals may change and thus, can affect relationships. Take some time to think about it, but don’t forget to keep your chin up, strut with confidence, and shake what your Mama gave ya! Mama Luv is here to help.
