I've actually been considering keeping a rat or two when I feel I can afford a pet. Would you mind telling me a bit what they're like? :) I've had cats and guinea pigs growing up, but that's about it.
awesome! sure not at all, love talking about rats. first of all check out this post I made in response to someone asking me a similar question, i covered a lot of bases there. if you have specific or subsequent questions please feel free to ask! rats make absolutely fantastic pets- they're friendly, intelligent, sweet, playful, curious, funny, clean. they're pretty much superior to all other small animal pets for several reasons. they're more like little dogs than cats, and they're smarter and more likely to want to play and snuggle with you than guinea pigs. the most important thing to tell you just now is that you cant just get one rat, you have to get a pair or a group (obviously a same-sex group). rats are social animals that need the company of their own kind, a single rat will get depressed and lonely even if you spend loads of time with him because there are rat-rat interactions you cant mimic as a human (chemical smells, grooming with teeth, etc). :)
