It’s Natsume and Mamiya’s story. One defined by forgetting, and the other by remembering. The lyrics perfectly fit Natsume and Mamiya.
Before that. Breaking down the first section!
While the Funeral group went from child -> current during the first verse. Keito was the only one that disappeared in the second verse of his section because he’s dead. Keito doesn’t exist in 2012 in the original story. And it is also why he went first in the intro “spoilers scene”, because he was born— exist before the rest of the Funeral group.
Intro. Notice how it went from Natsume & Mamiya to [▇▇▇▇▇▇ ] & Mamiya? Hehe. I felt evil for that. hehe.
Mina and Minato section
“An empty shampoo” Mina <- Natsume Souichirou (Flowers: Yellow Bouquet; I can’t remember which flower it was… i went with chrysanthemum…)
While it probably makes more sense for Mamiya to go first since he remembers everything, knowing that Natsume is his other soul half—- Natsume is “Me” so it’s “Me” and “You (Mamiya)”

Chorus. The lyrics fit so well.
“As a result of loving, as a result of forgetting” -> Idea NatsuMiya: Mamiya who remembers and Natsume who forgot when they were Ideas together. The memories and feelings from back then. and when they were with Keito. Mamiya suffering is the result of that, the love and memories.
“As a result of acquiring, as a result of losing” -> Nastume Souichirou and Mamiya Yumehisa. Natsume Souichirou is the version of Natsume who obtains a body and loses it afterwards (death) after all.. well!what could have been if Mamiya acquired a body?
“As a result of living, as a result of dying.” Spectator Natsume and Mamiya. The consequences of Natsume living and dying. Natsume is only a spectator because of that. What’s different here is he does have his living memories so his actions, his emotions, everything is related to how he was when he’s alive.
-> ends off with Spectator Natsume -> “Me” -> [Blank]. the last page was burnt
Mamiya is the observer of all the progression so it is very fitting he is the counterpart for this song (((Mamiya sure does a lot of spectating for someone who's not a spectator.. haha.. UNLESS…)))
Music intermission. From spectator Mamiya who’s finding Natsume in every story to EX Natsume.
Second Verse. I’ll leave it up for inference but I did think through how the lyrics correlate to the scenes. My most favourite one being “A clock without hands.” with the Upper level/ Trichiliocosm (Spectators and Librarian.) Because there’s no concept of time there.

The flash of different Natsume at the near end. There’s 3 sequences.
First is Ex Nastume in between Idea, Body, Spectator Natsume. How to say… it’s like flashing who EX Natsume used to be. A forgotten memory of Natsume. While Ex Natsume forgot, I’d like to think there’s still hints here and there of old Natsume and it’s something that haunts Yumehisa.
Second follows the EX sequence. Idea -> Body -> Spectator -> EX
Third follows DDD: Idea -> Body -> Spectator -> “Me” who’s ceasing to exist
The last section of the song transition back to DDD with Yumehisa in the loop of reading as many stories as he can to find Natsume
