Hi y’all. Apologies for my non-existence. I am not saying this is my last post ever, but it looks like it is pretty close? A lot happened to me in the year 2018, most prominently, my dad passed away in July, of a long mysterious illness, after my being very involved in his care for a long while before then. So when he passed it was a shock. Even though we should have seen it coming, I just ... never wanted it to happen, so it was, and is, a deep shock to me.
This doesn’t really have anything to do with this simblr, however. My change of tastes have nothing to do with my dad, but I just wanted to share, since I have mentioned my dad being sick before.
Importantly for you, and this simblr ... the thought of opening Sims 3 again makes me go uuuuughhhhhhhh. Just ... because to do what I like to do, it’s a hassle and a half, and I am not at that place where I can deal! Plus, even though I love Sims 4, I like to play it all casual, it’s nothing really worth posting. Soooo ...
i am turning Dear Cosmos into a comic book, though. (It will be super bizarre to be able to create the world more fully, without having to take Sims 3 physics into account, but I am excited). I hope to work on one chapter at a time, post, then work on the next chapter all at once, post. This way you will be able to binge read a chapter at a time. The thing is, I don’t know where I will be posting this, and it’s not Sims, so it doesn’t really belong on a Sims blog!

I’ve seen a lot of posts about this today and my understanding is that an adult lied about their age to their followers to connect with them more. I want to preface this by just stating that I come from a background of working with both abusive adults and with children/ young people within their family, in both the voluntary sector and the criminal justice service in the UK. My thoughts (OK, it turned out a bit more ranty than first intended I admit) on this initially are:
1. Lying to kids/ young people (YP) is not OK, even if the reasons for doing so are harmless. Children/ YP get lied to A LOT about lots of different things (eg a fat jolly old man who climbs down chimneys to leave gifts, fairies and magical princesses, “Aww, he’s only hitting you because he likes you”, being told that everything is fine when it clearly isn’t, told they are imagining things etc) so they get pretty switched on to and intolerant of bullshit from adults. Also they are taught about the dangers of people on-line who might lie about their age for nefarious purposes. Therefore, it is understandable and right that some may have been freaked out about this and thought it was creepy- don’t get defensive about it because they have a point. ALSO- don’t get freaked out if you have done nothing wrong!

2. Kids/ YP may be tempted to lie about their age online because they want to be treated as being more mature- they don’t want to be treated like children. This is a normal desire- no-one likes being patronised or talked down to because of our age. But doing it the other way around is not OK- as an adult you have to take responsibility for and manage your desires to be liked/ accepted/ loved and seek affirmation elsewhere than from kids/ YP even if you have no harmful intentions.
3. It is not up to kids to protect themselves- it is the job of adults to protect them. Therefore, it is not the responsibility of children/ YP to declare their age up front. See above. However, if you are posting explicit or scary content and not directly communicating with someone it’s not your responsibility to check the age of every single follower. But you can use appropriate tags like simsnsfw or trigger warnings or/and maybe put your age or age range/ gaming style in your bio to be on the safe side. Let them make an informed choice.
4. DON’T say: “Well, they’re going to come across it anyway if they are online (and it didn’t do me any harm).” That is not an acceptable excuse. I can’t even tell you how many times I have heard this from online sex offenders as an excuse for engaging underage people in sexualised chat or sending them sexual images- so if that thought goes through your mind, check it and squash it. Children/ YP have a right to be safe online, as do we all; not all children/YP are resilient and until providers take some form of responsibility for that we can all do our bit as adults to be protectors. So if you suspect that a follower might be underage you can always check in with them and ask that question and tell them if you do post explicit stuff or are thinking in engaging in RP with them. See point 3.
5. It is normal for children/ YP to think that they are the most exciting generation on the planet and that adults are boring and clueless. Again, don’t get defensive about it and don’t take it personally- if they don’t want to follow you because you’re over 18 or 20 or 30 or whatever, regardless of the content you post, then that’s perfectly OK. That’s their choice, let them make it, mentally congratulate them on doing what they can do to feel safe (even if they lash out to you inappropriately)- because kids/YP generally have very limited choices in their lives and their online world might be the only place where they feel they have some sort of power and control.
6. If anyone who follows me is freaked out by the fact that I am 43 (or by anything I have said here) then feel free to unfollow or block. If you want me to unfollow you though you will have to let me know (in person or through a friend or shared mutual) as I’m old, busy, forgetful and a bit flaky around the edges. No explanation needed, I will take no offense and won’t shit talk you behind your back.
I think this is one of the last pictures of Carla and her bakery in Lowlands. This save also acted up when I reverted to an older save and tried to play Carla and her cat. I started playing Lowlands in early spring (march) and I guess I will be playing summer in a different hood. :D
I spent the entire weekend contemplating where to go next lol.
Even considered ts4 as I’m enjoying the new LP series of the Sims Supply where they try to raise a badass toddler. Really amusing.. *evil laughter* but nah, I’m sticking to ts3 for now. ;)
I really liked @descargassims new world Los Angeles so from picturesque Dutch canals to grungy palmtrees it is! :D
Been collecting sims from my older saves (always good to see them again) and made up some stories. An alcoholic dad with his sons gone sour in a rundown neighborhood, a wannabe model with a few unbearable traits and a self-sufficient eco friendly hippie family living in a tent or something..
I’m excited about this. :D Now back to real life. :/ Simsoes out. :)
I was walking down one of my new streets, when I saw a young man holding a golden puppy, and for serious, his smile was so beautiful. It was like sunshine was pouring out of his face. I walked away, and I said out loud, so out loud that he may have heard me, “That may be the CUTEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEEEEEEEN.”

Hi! I have a good amount of free time right now, so I’ve decided to waste it on something silly work on a sims comic book, which is something I’ve always wanted to do. But before I begin the task of laying out my pages, I’d like thoughts about some stuff:
1. The main character is Nova Bee, who will have a totally non-superhero reason to have an alter ego. Should her totally legit alter ego be Super-Nova or Supernova??
2. Re: paneling. I’m going to do full pages as opposed to different images, like so (pretend to be surprised by this if I ever post it again):
Would it make sense, then, to include the text and dialogue from the panels below for people on mobile or people who can’t view the full pages clearly for whatever reason? I only ask because I think it’d be annoying to have both, but idk.
3. Let’s say--hypothetically--the protagonist of this comic were to acquire super powers. It’s totes okay if it takes a few issues to show up, right? I’m asking for a friend, who’s working on a different comic. ;)
4. I haven’t finished taking pictures for the first issue, but I have the first five issues outlined, and first issue almost completely written. Once I’m done, it’ll probably be about 20-25 pages like the one above, plus a cover. How many pages should I queue a day? I don’t want to blow my wad prematurely.
Thanks for any feedback. I’m doing this 90% because I want to (I’ve been fiddling with making comics in GIMP and it’s fun), but I 10% want this to be readable for at least a handful of folks. (that math checks out, right?)
Hello everyone! I’m almost done queuing up the first issue of Supernova. I’m going to be tagging posts as “Supernova s3 comic” if you want to block or follow the tag.
I tried my damndest at making fonts readable on mobile. And after testing the finished product on my desktop, laptop, tablet, and phone I’ve come to this conclusion: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ You may not be able to read this comic on certain devices. It’s okay. I understand.
Anyway, thank you to everyone who has been encouraging and supportive about this! The queue starts tomorrow, July 18th, and should run until July 25th. Hopefully during that time I can finish building the set for the next issue.
I put a few pages of Supernova in my drafts and then checked it on my phone to see how it looks on mobile. And I’ve reached the conclusion that there is no effing way to have a readable font on the images for mobile. I can have large font and make it look okay ONLY if there’s a few words on the page. But if the text is longer than a sentence, the words overtake the images. So back to the drawing board, I guess? I don’t know if I’ll stick with the plan I had to do full pages, or if I’ll try creatively break pages into multiple images in an attempt to make it readable on both mobile and a computer. Or I’ll give up and put alt-text underneath the images. Idk. But sunk cost fallacy is telling me not to give up on this idea! ;)
