Jersey City’s poet laureate Rashad Wright hosts an open mic night at @manacontemporary just outside the door of my studio. It often evolves into a jam session. One of the many reasons I am glad I call Mana home right now. When I photographed Rashad he had recently taken a spill on his bicycle and gashed his face up pretty good. He is handsome, intelligent, and confident in nature and I appreciated the vulnerability that the injury brought to the photographs.
