Awakening was my first FE game and got me hooked on the series. I’m also glad I’m not the only one who thought Fates had really good gameplay. And while I was a fan of Echoes (the full voice acting and Berkut carry the game), their decision to almost completely stick true to Gaiden (in terms of gameplay and map design) wasn’t appealing to many. I should definitely look into playing the older games!
Awakening is genuinely an amazing experience, it’s a good introduction! Fates has my absolute favorite class system, and the way they fixed pairup was *chefs kiss* muah. I really wish I could enjoy Echoes, but I just could not finish it because they kept everything so close to Gaiden and it just felt archaic 😔
As for older games, I think Sacred Stones is a really good starting point for getting into them! It gets you more used to the older titles while still allowing you to grind via the world map if you so choose. Plus, being a GBA title makes it super easy to emulate!
What’s your favorite FE game?
There are 3 games I could answer this with, all for different reasons! My favorite game with regards to pure gameplay by far is Fates (Conquest fan over here), but the story obviously leaves much to be desired haha. Sacred Stones was my first ever FE game, and I still love it to pieces- I’m still attached to all of my first pairings :) And! If it weren’t for SS I wouldn’t have been so excited for Awakening when it was announced.
I think overall, at the end of the day, I would say Awakening is my favorite FE game. I won’t play/finish a game if the gameplay is bad (Echoes), and while Awakening wasn’t super balanced it was still fun. It has my favorite character/story writing, and that’s really what sticks with me the most at the end of the day.
That being said! I still need to go back and play more of the older games. I have the Tellius games but haven’t played them yet, and never finished the rest of the GBA titles. I’ll get around to them one day, but I’ll probably still prefer those 3 games the most :)
Your icon and mobile background are literally so great (the last unicorn is my favorite movie of all time lmao)
me and my boyfriend watched the last unicorn today it was his first time seeing it and he loved it a lot (he said it was magical and took him on a spiritual journey through time and space where unicorns are there and everything is possible. love is one/won)
