Cultural appropriation is taking something of cultural value from an oppressed group of people and using it as a fashion statement, a prop, or in any way that it is not intended to be used when you do not belong in that particular group. It doesn’t matter if what you’re appropriating is considered sacred or not, it is part of a culture that is not yours and you don’t have the right to use it. When you have no business taking things from oppressed groups of people and you are putting your own interests and personal enjoyment over their feelings and existence, you are appropriating their culture.
