so basically they debuted in 2012 with "MAMA" with two subgroups, EXO-K and EXO-M. in the K subgroup we had Baekhyun, Chanyeol, D.O, Kai, Suho, and Sehun. in the M subgroup we had Luhan, Kris, Tao, Lay (but most refer to him as yixing ^^), Xiumin, and Chen. in 2014, Luhan and Kris filed lawsuits against SM for being mistreated, and they left. Tao then filed a similar lawsuit in 2015 and left the group. EXO still has 9 members, but only 8 are featured in their latest album, "The War" because Lay is busy with his solo promotions in China (but he's still in EXO). So yeah, we have 8 members promoting their new album, and while Yixing still gives his support, he's busy filming movies and TV shows, etc etc. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask haha
thank you!!!!!!! it makes more sense now, i was really confused at first bc i see the terms EXO-K and EXO-M used a lot and then i saw EXO-L and i thought it was another subunit but i found out that’s just the fandom name lmao and when i tried to do research i saw EXO-CBX and i was like WHAT but i saw it’s just a subunit with Chen, Baekyun and Xiumin also thank you @zhlingrr i peeped Xiumin in kokobop, he was lookin like a snack as well as in Lotto
