I’m usually not a fan of Guru Ratikant Mohapatra’s choreographies since they’re always too jam packed in my opinion, HOWEVER, this is another exception I’ll make (in addition to two pallavis and a mangalacharan of his). I love the chanting of “Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha” and the choreography, while still very fast, has a technical appeal to it that I really like. I also gotta admit how innovative Ratikant is with his symbolism. The pose at 6:01 to show Ganesh is incredible when paired with that lighting!

It seems as though Guru Ratikant choreographs his new pieces on Rajashree Prahaj (the dancer in the center) mostly as they are usually very fast, athletic, and suit her small frame well.

A beautifully choreographed Mangalacharan on Surya performed by Silvana Duarte. I didn't know that Sharon Lowen had done some choreography. Also, The music is just as captivating as the dance.

This video has had me confused since I first watched it. The description says that Sujata Mohapatra was the only student that learned this item from Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, which I could believe. My thing is, this is the only piece of information on the internet that shows this item exists. Not even the Srjan website lists Guru Vandana as one of the items GKCM choreographed. No other videos/pictures/interviews or anything of any other dancer exist of this item. And that makes me wonder:

1. Why aren't there more videos of Sujata performing this item?

2. Has she taught it to any of her students? 

3. Does she refrain from performing it too often since she was the only one who was taught the choreography?

I hope one day I get to see the full item because it looks very beautiful, just from this clip. Also it sounds like it's in Charukeshi, and a Mangalacharan in Charukeshi sounds awesome to me. 

It's just so peculiar. Literally one source on the entire internet that this item exists. Strange.

I wonder why this particular Mangalacharan isn't more popular with dancers. I think the choreography and music are both great.

Namami Vighnaraja Tvam by Sujata, her daughter, Preetisha and two of Sujata's students. So cute to see Sujata correcting her mini-me on stage ^_^
