Good questions!!

The answer to your first question is that the divide would be a whole lot bigger if the world consisted of JUST humans and demons. But fairies also exist, and guess what? They’re the ones in power. And this world isn’t a democracy. It’s a dictatorship.

The fairies in power are kind of a mixed bag, because on one hand they value order. Which means the world is at peace, and war is nonexistent. But on the other hand, fairies ensure order through hierarchical class systems, so fairies can also be super prejudiced.

So, to answer your other questions. No, there are no protests against the dpd, because fairies do not care about the right to free speech. If someone has specific concerns, they can consult someone in authority (preferrably a fairy), but there are no protests, because protests disrupt the neatly structured world the fairies have built.

And as for marriages… it depends. As mentioned earlier, they have a strict class system, and without explaining it in detail, people typically only marry within their class, but they are allowed to marry one class above or below. So humans and demons CAN marry, but only if they’re close enough in class. Which is often not the case, as classes are split up by species.

Some classes include both demons AND humans, but, for example, if a demon from the lowest class wanted to marry a human from one of the middle classes, then that would be illegal.
