I was feeling like taking one of my fave Nirvana songs in a totally wacky synth-punk direction...
So I did! Every instrument was fun to play, hope you have fun with it too!

Oh Boy track by TRACK 5: After the Gun
This track was composed to soundtrack the main character's breakdown after realizing they accidentally shot their father.
I wanted something that sounded like manic anxiety. Like a shock of energy and dissociation. And so it features a really ugly, minor chord to minor chord in a different key jump that jolts you like a gunshot sound, and bursts into a fast-tempo disco beat with a twisting, keyblind chord progression and some goofy video gamey synth melodies.
It's meant to be disorienting, a little camp, also a little catchy. I don't think an extreme piece can't have pop sensibilities, and in fact I have come to feel that they can serve as a grounding element. Purely atonal mood music like the ugly-bowed-instruments type horror soundtracks don't hit for me because they don't pull me in in the first place, you need a familiar element to make the odd stuff stand out.
Francy did a great job drumming as always, and her live drums lend an air of 70s soundtrack music despite the more modern instrimentation.
