I suspect Tumblr might have not served my post with the discord link since it's a competitor platform, so just for fun I will say again I got a song I posted in the chat lookin for opinions if anyone wants a preview

And to make this less repetitive I will add a pointless anecdote: I once went to a "Marx-mas" party in my university days that was put on by some young communists I had met at a bar the night before, and it turned out every left-leaning person I knew (not just communists) in Toronto were all partying in this massive frat house that one of the communists charmed their way into letting them use despite not being in the frat. Genuinely really wild and fun, like a frat party if instead of sketchy sexual politics everyone was talking about philosophers I never read, and a glimpse into what fun politics could be if we all partied instead of arguing.

While most were very nice, one of the communists later insulted me pretty heavily on Facebook over my take on a Miley Cyrus song. He eventually left Canada and became a journalist in the United States. I hadn't heard his name in years until I was watching random youtube recs and Hasan Piker low key insulted the guy. Well you can imagine how vindicated I felt that a really, really handsome man insulted a guy who insulted me over a decade ago!

I feel like this album (Red by King Crimson) is the one my teen self was begging for but tragically never heard. My god that electric guitar arpeggio on Fallen Angel hits hard. It's like pre post hardcore.

I generally think AI music kinda sucks and it's unfortunate to find out that even the theft of my own music didn't improve it.

Yep, my music is not creative commons licensed, and I was never approached, compensated, or even notified in any way that my song was used for a major AI dataset. Spotify has demonetized most of my songs and my only real income comes from commissions and side hustles - this is part of why I have gone so quiet lately along with health issues. We need to find a paradigm that ensures that artists' labour is respected, indeed all labour deserves better than to be undercut by this monstrous industry.

Really really odd question but which of your songs would you say is/are the most sociological?

In a way maybe Let's Get Conservative, since it's pretty well an illustration of part of the radicalization pipeline?

Maybe it's On The Downlow, because it's allegorizing queer migration patterns using pigeons?

I like to think Goncharov relates to sociology in that it was borne of an internst era sociological phenomenon?

Despite poverty and embargo, Cuba had long managed to maintain a healthcare system that ensured treatment for all and for decades boasted a longer life expectancy than the US. They have sent doctors to train and treat around the world including in low income communities of the United States and remote areas in Mexico. When Ebola ravaged Africa they showed up, when the pandemic was raging they developed their own low cost vaccine.

The callous and cruel weaponization of fuel shipments by the Trump regime has targeted Cuba's ability to feed and care for itself, while claiming to be aiming at "regime change", though last time they did that in Latin America they kept the regime and took the oil and gold.

I have had the utter privilege of visiting Cuba several times and bore witness to a beautiful, dignified, and caring society among its people despite many hardships. Seeing the statues of Terry Fox and Martin Luther King in Havana was touching, knowing that a society so isolated still celebrates great people beyond its borders. My heart breaks for what the Cuban people are being put through.

This one was a product of some great luck

- I went to a random Monday showcase night because one band was called Sparklesaurus and had sparkly pics.

- the songwriting was beautiful and I offered on the spot to produce a demo, which tbh I didn't do too well on but they're awesome

- When I was working on the cover, which I wanted to 70smaxx, I stumbled on a tube PA (basically an amp head for voice/keys/bass) from 1967, built by Pete Traynor of Traynor/Yorkville. Just getting tossed. It weighed a ton and I carried it home in the most awkward, slow way possible because I didn't want to wait and risk losing it. The thing destroyed multiple fuses, I gave myself a mains shock fixing it, and it barely gave much gain off the preamp output but damn did it play nice with my voice.

-I was loving my FALL FASHIONS and had a great video editing program on my phone before it got enshittified.

Wrote it after a breakup in 2014(?) in one 20 minute outpour but over the years since it was so loop-able it morphed into something more layered in my solo sets.

Thank you! Been in a bit of a creative (well everything) rut but I am doing my best to clear that so I can finish up the songs I have in the works. It's awesome to see that even without doing the whole "content creator" grind there's people who connect with what I'm doing. ❤️❤️❤️
