Question: What made the Manichee faith so bad according to Augustine? It sounded a little off base, but hardly covered in sin. Why did Augustine perceive it as such a dark time in his life? Was it common at this time for varying versions of Christianity to be practiced like the Manichee? Comment: I find it so interesting how Augustine seemed almost more ashamed at his time with the Manichee faith than any of his other sins. He committed sexual sins, theft, and yet he wrote about how his spirit was being ruined by tragedies and the Manichee beliefs.
