I’m a bit late but here is my St. António holding his pot of basil. I always heard you should not smell this plant directly with your nasty nostrils or it dies (you have to pat-pat the plant and smell your even nastier hand), but that sounds like trickery and super shady to me basil vendors, cause why would nature put us to test like that by creating a plant that smells like an italian kitchen during lunch time and inhibit you to eat it through your olfactive sensors. You simply cannot unsmell the smellable, human beings are weak and basil is doomed.
