Send me the name of a character and my muse will give their opinion on them
That ain’t a name, that’s a tiger!
Where do I start?
Boom. It’s Manji.
I’m tryin’ to think of my first memory of you, back when we were roadies following Dir en grey around. Think I’d been on for a while when you showed up, bright eyed and rumblin’. Looking back at that time in our lives seems kinda surreal, considering where we are now.
I had no idea what you’d think, hearing from me for the first time in so many years. Part of me expected a casual, occasional-conversations and courteous interactions kind of friendship. Part of me was intimidated. All of me lit up.
Turns out, once we started talking again we never fucking shut up. 笑 I remember distinctly sittin’ outside having a beer and chatting with you and having this smirk spread across my face with something you said. I asked myself out loud, “Is this flirting?” And then, shortly after, it was obviously flirting.
You might be saying to yourself, ‘Hey Gara! This was supposed to be your opinion on the guy!’ but listen…. Shh. 笑
We kinda took a leap, didn’t we? Fell hard and fast. It was scary, and it was important to figure out exactly where I should and shouldn’t step. But it was never difficult, because in the end the only thing I’ve ever wanted is to see you happy. We got a little shaky, and I think that’s understandable to say the least. We barrelled head-first into this no matter how we tried to pace ourselves.
There are so many things we share in common, so many ways in which we’re in sync. There’s a level of understanding, acceptance, familiarity we share that brings some kind of freedom I don’t think anyone else ever felt. You changed my life when you came into it, snapped me out of some eight-year path of numb destruction. You look after me, care for me, understand me, and I give just the same right back.
It’s been my privilege to watch these bits and pieces of you that have been stomped down, hidden out of sight, finally come to the surface and breathe. It is my greatest joy to watch you grow into your own self, to nurture every part of you.
And god damn you know how to leave me limping. 笑
So, what’s my opinion on Manjicub?
I love you, soul deep. You’re my best friend, Manji, my partner in crime. You’re deeper than any ocean, ever growing. You’re warmth and comfort and understanding. Strength and humanity, vulnerable, raw. You’re intelligent and inquisitive and thoughtful in a way that I don’t see in many people, if anyone at all. I’m the luckiest man in the world to call you mine, to have you call me yours.
In my opinion, Manji, you’re the sun, the moon, and all the stars in the sky.
Two years ago today you and I fell into each other’s lives.
We’ve been through hell and back, gained and lost, won and failed. We’ve built our home, made our mountain a perfect heaven. Our family has grown and shrunk, but always remained solid.
