so, i am having an absolutely awful day here. found out i need to get an emergency tooth extraction surgery that'll cost 800 for only one tooth and local anesthesia. it's going to wipe out over half of my savings. i've been desperately trying to save money, so i can move out of this state that's becoming more expensive and intolerable to live in. like, i am legitimately worried my landlord is going to raise the rent so high that i'll be forced to choose between rent and food or have to move back in with my parents in the isolated countryside, which HAHAHA. NOT GREAT.

and that's not all cuz i have two other teeth that need to eventually be yanked out and one that requires special surgery cuz it's connected to my nerves, so fuck me i guess.

if you're feeling generous, my cashapp is $woe2all. if you want something a little extra for your money, i'll draw you whatever the fuck you want so long as it's not underage shit.

i've been apprehensive lately about posting my house of ashes jalim fan art cuz 1) it's 90% horny and 2) i have such a specific vision of these characters (bear/twunk fucker over here) that i dunno if y'all would be into it

but i'm getting into "fuck it" mode and am considering working on some more fics (snippets/sequels to home with you and i'll see you again + jason/nick and salim/nick fics)

fandom is small, but i don't really mind that so long as my friends are liking it lmao

Let this be a mark of stupid/random things in your ask box-- an actual question to start though. Favorite House of Ashes AU concept AND/OR Favorite HOA headcanon? That is all (for now dun dun dun) 👁〰👁💛

Are you ready for this, because I have so many thoughts.

I have a few AUs bumping around in the background, but my current favorite is an AU RP (eventually a fic?) I am doing with @the-girl-who-flies that started with the simple premise: what if Salim was a physical therapist that Jason had to go to for an injury?  It somehow developed into this whole universe where Salim immigrated with his wife to a suburban town a half hour from D.C. in the 80s and pursued a career in the medical field to provide for his family. He opened a private physical therapy clinic with Dar in 2001, and shortly after, separated from his wife when she found out he’s, uh, gay. Jason is going through his own stuff (ask Harpy about that side of things, haha), but basically, he’s Salim’s new patient and they start seeing each other in October of 2003. It’s part romantic comedy, part soap opera, part slice-of-life, and part filth, and I’m loving every minute of it.

My OTHER favorite AUs include ones where Salim is a classic vampire that Jason is into, a world in which everyone is a lesbian (except Eric), and this elaborate spaghetti western AU I had that I might just turn into an original comic.

My favorite headcanons.....................I have so many, but the biggest one that I refuse to believe isn’t canon is that Salim’s ex-wife left him and abandoned the family for a few reasons: 1) she felt unsafe, and wanted to flee Iraq, but he didn’t want to since he’s Republican Guard 2) she was resentful that he spent most of their child’s life on the battlefield and 3) she discovered he’s gay.

My favorite headcanon for Jason is that he had an absent father and is a deeply closeted homosexual with daddy issues.

You know that post that’s like, this character only makes sense if they are gay? That’s how I feel about Salim and Jason.

And for random fun headcanons: Salim has a stash of cassette tapes and CDs that he keeps in a shoebox and it’s all classic Arab pop and strong, powerful Western women from the 70s/80s/90s (think: Cher, ABBA, Sade, etc.). Jason, on the other hand, listens to a lot of stoner rock and nu-metal (Black Sabbath, Slayer, Slipknot, K0rn, etc.). He likes some country, but only cuz of his mom.

i blinked and suddenly i had more than a 100 followers! at least 25% of my followers are empty blogs, but i'm not gonna nitpick here. that's a big achievement!

for those just tuning in, i've struggled with bipolar ii disorder and untreated adhd for a long time. despite graduating from art school and drawing/writing being my main passions, there's always been a huge mental block when it came to my work. i was able to get serious help and medication around the time i started getting into the house of ashes fandom which inspired me to pick up a pencil again and start drawing. by that point, i had barely drawn in years. now i've been filling up page after page, going between digital and traditional, experimenting with materials, practicing my anatomy and character design, and even making little comics. i wrote a whole fucking 30+k fanfic and posted it! i've never done that before hoa fandom.

honestly, hoa has been a big part of my recovery journey - not so much the game itself, but the community i've found and inspiration to create spicy bear/twunk content ;) i know eventually there won't be much of a fandom left and i won't be on tumblr forever either, but i've met amazing people from all over the world who encourage me to keep creating and it has even spawned some original projects from comics to full-length novels. it's honestly been so much fun.

all that being said, moving forward i want to create more original work. not that i'll never draw hoa fan art, but even with my recent jalim pieces - mostly from the lgp au - it has felt more like doodling original characters in new situations than fan art from a video game.
