“take a chill pill.” julia murmurs, eyes staying on the book that was on her lap. “i’m sure it’ll be fine. like -- you don’t needa geek out over nothing.”
she can see them in her peripheral, while poised there upon her perch. irritation flits against her cheeks, like a moth trapped in a jar. it paints her cheeks scarlet and she smiles brighter. ‘ stop circling me –– you are not the descendant of a vulture, are you? ’ her eyes cloud over with COLD indifference. ‘ do you want vomit on your shoes? ‘cause that’s where i’m going to aim. ’
“SO, I ACTUALLY ended up at a party in dallas last night, with some friends from uni.” andy takes a puff of her cigarette as she looks at the person opposite of her. “it was a bust, though. the cops showed up and everything. i barely got out without being arrested; thank god for first floor windows.” andy pauses, watching the smoke rise in swirls from the end of her lit cigarette. “so, do you know of another party going on, say, tonight? my day’s been particularly shitty.”
“right,” he paused; his tongue darted against the inside of his right cheek, a sigh of surrender leaving his lips as his head ducked down to the ground for a split second. “i’ve got a proposition for you.” eyes glistened with interest as he flickers his gaze up to meet the other’s -- he figured it’s only polite to make eye contact with the favour he’s asking. not that he’ll ever doubt they’d turn him down. “the ice cream parlour’s giving away some mad deal. a buy one free one or something -- would you be interested?” he threw a thumb back over his shoulder to gesture the direction of the mentioned parlour, brows raising as he waited for an answer. “i mean, we can split the bill?”
brooklyn gently tapped her freshly painted nails on the counter, other hand resting against her cheek. it had been a long day already and the fact that business had been slow had made the day drag out even longer. the brunette hummed along to the music that played in the background, finally deciding to push herself off the stool she was sitting on and scan through some of revolution record’s newest arrivals. careful fingers sorted through the plastic as she brought each record to its new spot. her head shot up as the bell on the door rang and a small smile spread across her lips. “hey! question.” she hummed. “for research, of course. favorite right now artist and why?”
“should’ve been there last night.” beau tells the other, cigarette dangling between his lips as he glares at the other. “this guy got his head bashed in because his ex-girlfriend showed up and hit him with a beer bottle. it was fucking gnarly.”
BECAUSE IT was a sunday, his favorite place - the mansford public library - was closed. this leaved him no choice but to take his book to the local coffee shop, beans & barley, and read there.
thanking the cute barista, holden grabs his earl grey tea and finds a nice secluded table in the corner. he sits down and opens his book. looking down at it, he moves the bookmark to the table; that’s when he notices a wallet on the ground. picking it up, he figures it belongs to the person at the table next to his. holden feels a bit more comfortable that their back is facing him as he says softly, “hey, is this yours?”
if there’s ever a time that he wants to relax and distance himself from the crushing world around him, you’ll usually find the bennett boy sat on a specific bench at the town park. the location is key for the environment's ability to calm him down due to how secluded it seems to be from every other area of the family-friendly sight. far and away from the all too ebullient screams of playing toddlers, the male sat in the shade with a set of headphones around his head, sticky fingers -- which, according to joshua himself, is the best album by the rolling stones to date, exile on main st. coming at a close second -- playing in full volume from his walkman. it’s then, as wild horses was getting to its second chorus that he feels a double tap on his shoulder, surprised brows furrowing in the direction of the touch. “ what’re you doin’ here ? i thought no-one knew about this place. ”
