Request: Could you do a George Weasley x prefect Gryffindor? She’s always hated him, he’s always liked her. He was doing a prank and pulled her into a closet so he didn’t get in trouble

You hear them before you see them.

You round the corner, and sure enough, there’s a crowd gathered, chatting and laughing. There’s no chance everyone here has a free period, so as you make your way down the corridor to them, you raise your voice and say: “Alright, everyone. Fun’s over. Time to get to class.”

You’re met with quite a few groans, and some students drag their feet, but the crowd breaks up. You can’t help but notice more than a few of them tuck brightly colored sweets into their pockets as they walk away.

That can’t be good, especially because it seems to be the Weasley twins handing them out. They always seem to be at the scene of any suspicious happenings, and you suspect they love how much their antics annoy you.

Particularly George Weasley, who, now, grins at you.

“Why, hello, Y/N. Would you like one?” He holds up one of the sweets. Always pushing your buttons, per usual.

“No chance. What do they do?”

Fred mirrors his twin’s smile. “Get you out of class.”

“Uh huh. And how, exactly, does a sweet get you out of class?”

“Try one and you’ll find out.”

Bloody hell. “Absolutely not. But if I find out you two have been poisoning first-years-“

“Y/N.” Fred places a hand over his chest as dramatically as possible. “What do you take us for?”

“Idiots. I take you both for idiots.” You cut your glare at George, but he just continues to grin as if you just complimented him. You’d be lying if you said he wasn’t good looking, especially when he smiles, but your utter distaste of him clouds any smidge of attraction you may feel. “And considering I know both of you have Transfiguration right now, I suggest you also get to class before I have to start taking away points.”

“Yes ma’am,” George says. His tone is surprisingly genuine, but he probably just wants a reaction. You turn on your heel and start off to class yourself, so at least one of you isn’t late.

You have patrol that night, so after dinner and homework, you head out to start your shift.

It’s not technically curfew yet, but it’s nearing the time of the evening when everyone tends to head back to their common rooms. So when you hear what sounds like a group of people, just like earlier, you start toward the laughter.

It’s one thing for the Weasley twins to make your life harder during school hours, but do they really have to rile everyone up right before curfew? But since you don’t have a class to get to, you can properly chew them out, and that-

Before you know what’s happening, someone’s grabbing your arm and you’re being pulled from your path.

“Hey!” You’re shrouded in darkness as the closet door clicks shut behind you. You fumble blindly for the handle, but a hand comes to rest on the door right next to your head, holding it shut.

A hand that belongs to George Weasley. George Weasley, who, due to the size of the closet, is standing very, very close to you.

Your pounding heart climbs to your throat. Your blood is still boiling, especially at being pulled into this closet against your will, but damn does he smell good.

No, no, no. You have to focus.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” you try to snap, but your words don’t come out with the bite you were intending them to.

“Sorry about this, Y/N. We knew you were patrolling tonight, so-“

“-so Fred put you on kidnapping duty?”

A smirk creeps onto George’s lips, the kind that makes your stomach flip.

Bloody hell. You’ve been in here for thirty seconds and you’re already developing Stockholm syndrome.

“Distraction duty is how we prefer to put it, but. To each their own.”

Oh, you’re distracted, alright. Is it just you, or has he moved closer?

“Just like how you’re poisoning first-years but you’re calling it… what?”

With that smirk still on his lips, his gaze drops to your mouth. Oh. You swallow, hard, but your mouth has gone dry. He’s just fucking with you to distract you. Like he always does. But… the way he’s looking at you right now…

“Fred wasn’t lying when he said we weren’t poisoning anyone. They’re helping us test out a few things, is all. And they’re getting paid, so it’s a win for everyone, right?”

“Not for me. Especially when you lock me in a closet so I can’t do my job.”

“The door’s not locked.” George grins knowingly.

Fuck. He’s right. And you’re letting him win, when you could’ve just demanded he let you out from the start.

“Just let me go bust whatever you and your brother are doing. Because if I don’t, someone else will. Would you rather have Snape break up your scheme than me?” The look on George’s face tells you his answer. “Plus, then we can both get out this situation that’s definitely not fun for either of us.”

“Who says I’m not having fun?”

You raise your eyebrows at him. “You enjoy being stuck in very tiny closets with people you hate?”

George’s smile falls, and your stomach drops along with it. What did you say? In all the years you’ve known him, you’ve never seen this look on his face.

“You think I hate you?”

“Well, yeah.” What aren’t you understanding? “You always… I mean, I don’t know, George. You push my buttons whenever I bust you and Fred for your pranks. You drive me up the wall on purpose all the time.”

“Yeah, I do, because I like you, Y/N. I figured you knew. I don't exactly do the best job of hiding it."

Even in the dim light of the closet, you can see a dark red blush creeping up George’s neck and on to his cheeks.

“I never thought I’d have a chance, because it’s always been obvious how crazy I drive you, and not in the good way.” He smiles a little and your stomach flutters. “But, I mean, c’mon, Y/N. How could I not like you? You’re smart and so quick with your comebacks. And you’re so pretty. Of course. But the only way I’ve ever been able to get you to talk to me is when you’re busting our pranks. So."

Oh, holy shit. He’s serious. George Weasley likes you?

You’re at a loss for words. So you weren’t imagining the look he was giving you earlier? Like he wanted to kiss you?

But he’s right. You’ve always brushed him off, thinking he could never be serious. Thinking he was this one-dimensional prankster. But maybe you ought to give him a chance, because even in this short conversation you would’ve never given him the time of day for if you weren’t stuck in a closet with him, you see a different side of George Weasley. Something softer, more genuine.

Which makes him all the more attractive.

You hear the squeak of the door handle, and when the door bumps against your back, you realize George is reaching around you to open the door. To let you go.

It’s you this time who places your hand against the door and pushes it shut again. George’s eyebrows twitch in confusion, but you only see the expression for a second before you grab him by the front of the shirt and pull him into a kiss.

He doesn’t hesitate to respond, his lips moving eagerly against yours. His hands cup your face, his touch so gentle as he rubs his thumbs over your cheeks, even as he kisses you hungrily, as if it’s the last kiss he’ll ever have.

When you break apart, your head is spinning and your body is hot. Wow. Wow. You say the only thing you can think to say, because how is your brain supposed to work after a kiss like that?

“Take me to Hogsmeade this weekend?”

George blinks rapidly, as if he’s snapping himself out of a daze, too. But then he smiles as if you just told him he won the lottery. “Done. Absolutely. Yes.”

You let him open the door this time, and both of you step into the corridor, cringing against the light. Chatter echoes from the same direction you heard it earlier.

“My brother’s right outside the prefects’ bathroom.” George tilts his head. “If you wanna bust him.”

You look over George: his soft smile, his tousled hair, his flushed cheeks. You can't believe you're actually looking forward to spending time with him, to actually getting to know him.

“I don’t know. We don’t want Fred to think you failed kidnapping duty.”

“Distraction duty,” he quickly corrects you. “But... you'd say it worked?”

“I feel pretty distracted, so. I’d say so.” You can’t help but smile at him just before you turn the opposite direction, back toward your common room. You’ll give the boys the night off—but tomorrow? Well, you’ll see.

“Goodnight, George,” you call over your shoulder.

You can hear the smile in his voice when he responds, “Goodnight, Y/N.”
