It's amazing how so much about The Mentalist is rooted deeply in symbolism.
'I Don't Need Saving' has always been one of my favourite tracks, and even though its name contradicts the theme of the show - because Jane, in fact, needs saving, on so many levels - they always use it when he's happy and at peace with himself. Like, when he and Lisbon run through the rain in season 1, or when she does the 'trust fall', or when he kisses her for the first time, or at the very end of the finale - namely, at the moments of their deepest connection.
