I have had cats all my life and have taken care of lots of kittens. there is no need to worry about beetle! if he’s hiding somewhere, ignore him. then he will make the decision on his own to come out. maybe he’ll go back, but that’s okay. he has found a spot he knows is safe. put his food and water and litter box out in the open and he will learn that that is a safe place too.
