My shot at a DIY post and decorating my bedroom. Let's see how both go.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Because I am too broke to afford anything as cute as this, I decided to try and see if I can make my own. Most, if not all of the items you'll need you already have! Take some markers from your younger siblings, steal some tape from your parents, or go to the nearest Dollar Tree and get all of your materials. On with the actual post!
--------------------------------------------------------------
markers/colored pencils/acrylic paint
(whatever you have with you. I would try and prioritize the marker, though, because it can easily stand out when you're outlining the letters.)
round thing
(I used that butterfly pot bowl thing on the third picture. Think cup, mug, circle, round, shape.)
--------------------------------------------------------------
Using the old book, cut out pages. Simple. Use as many as you want to spell out whatever you want to spell out (your name or choice of profanity).
As for the round thing, with your pencil, trace it onto the page. If you want to save yourself some pages, see if you can cram in two or more circles onto one page. (See pictures 1 and 2 above)
If you're as clumsy as I am, you might want to use pencil first to draw the letter and any other decorations you want inside the circle before going over them with marker, crayon, paint, whatever. You're using the [insert choice of color stick here] to give it color and make the letters stand out against the words that are already on the pages. (See picture 3 above)
Going on with the last step, trace over the pencil with [insert choice of color stick here]. (See picture 4 above)
Cut out the circles using the pencil outline you did in step two as a guide. Feel free to go outside the line, again, if you're as clumsy as I am with scissors and can never cut precisely. (See picture 5 above)
Once you're done with yo' cute ass designs, lay them out on the ground as you would want them to be hung up, if that makes sense.
Get your twine. Lay it out above your letters in order to see how much twine you will need. (See picture 6 above)
After you've measured, get your tape! You will now tape the shapes onto the twine, using the guide you've set out on step six.
It's finally coming together! Now pick a place and hang up your cute ass garland.
--------------------------------------------------------------
That's it! Straightforward stuff. Do what you want to customize it as you see fit. It is your room after all. The cool part about this is that you can simply take out the tape from the twine and re-do anything you want to do as your style evolves. Trust me, after staring back at the pictures while editing, I want to fix mine up. If you have any questions or comments about what I was trying to accomplish with this post, feel free to ask.
[Miles Jai voice] Good luck b****s, you gon' need it.
